The General Conference Women's Ministries Scholarship Program is established to give scholarships to women who are committed to serving the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church who would otherwise be unable to afford a Christian education. Scholarship awards are based on academic achievement, financial need, and community outreach. Specific amounts of scholarship awards vary from year to year and are dependent on the amount of funds available in your division. Scholarships may only be obtained through your home division.

Who is Eligible?
Any woman who is planning to attend a Seventh-day Adventist college in the Division in which she lives. Primary consideration will be given to those in the last two years of college-level study. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of need, ability and the recipient's determination to improve herself. She must be committed to serve the Lord in whatever way He directs and to the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

How May I Apply?
Women interested in applying for the scholarship should get an application form from the Women's Ministries director in your division.

You will be asked to fill out the application, provide a photo, a transcript of your latest year in school and three recommendations written by your pastor, church leaders, and/or teachers.

Scholarships should be submitted first to your conference Women's Ministries (WM) director who will send it to the union (WM) director, then the division (WM) director and finally to the GC (WM) director. If you have no conference WM director send the application to your union WM director. If there is no conference or union WM director then send it directly to your division WM director.

Applicants will be screened by a committee at the Women's Ministries office for your Division and by the General Conference Women's Ministries Scholarship Committee.

Scholarshipping Our Sisters Prior to 2004 all scholarships were funded by profits from the Women's Ministries' daily devotional books for women. The first devotional book was printed in 1993 and was titled "Among Friends." Since then 14 more books have been published.

In 2004 we became aware of our need to raise even more funds for this program as we were turning down almost 50% of all applicants. A program was developed to raise funds that would allow more women to receive help. This new program is called "Scholarshipping Our Sisters" (SOS) and is managed by the GC Women's Ministries department.

Funds are solicited from businesses, retirees, women's organizations, and other interested groups and individuals. Donations may be named or unnamed. Donors are free to specify if their donation is for a particular field of study or if it can be used generally. And donors can give a donation in memory of, in honor of, or just as a gift.

Each quarter we print a SOS newsletter updating you on what your donations are doing and giving you true stories of some of our recipients.

If you are interested in making a donation please contact us at:

GC Women's Ministries 12501 Old Columbia Pike Silver Spring, MD 20904 (301) 680-6672 (301) 680-6636 Thank you for strengthening our church by Scholarshipping our Sisters.

Update From its inception in 1991 the Women's Ministries scholarship program has given a total of 1223 scholarships in over 105 countries amounting to $493,626.04.

The European Master’s in Transnational Trade Law and Finance (EMTTLF) has been selected by the European Commission among the Erasmus Mundus masters courses for five years. This implies that the European Commission will grant scholarships to highly qualified third-country graduate students to follow the EMTTLF Masters Course.

Number of Erasmus Mundus Scholarships
As for the third edition of this Master (2010-2012), the EMTTLF Consortium will award
around 17 Erasmus Mundus Scholarships to highly qualified third-country graduate students.
Third-country graduate student means:
    a national of a third country other than those from EEA-EFTA States (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) and candidate countries for accession to the European Union (presently Croatia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedoniaand Turkey);
    who has already obtained a first higher education degree;
    who is not a resident of any of the Member States or the participating countries (EEA-EFTA States and EU candidate countries for accession);
    who has not carried out his or her main activity (studies, work, etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in any of the Member States or the participating countries.

Important notice
Please note that as of the current academic year the
number of applications by third country students must be limited to three Erasmus Mundus Masters Courses maximum, i.e., if you apply to more than three Erasmus Mundus Masters Courses, you will be automatically excluded from the selection process for an Erasmus Mundus Scholarship.

In addition,
only individuals who have not previously benefitted from an Erasmus Mundus scholarship are eligible to apply. Applicants are asked to sign a declaration confirming that they have not previously received an Erasmus Mundus scholarship in the Scholarship Application Form.

Western Balkans and Turkey Window
In addition to the scholarships financed under the Erasmus Mundus programme, it is expected
a limited number of additional student scholarships will be available for the 2010/11 academic year via a specific regional window for students from the Western Balkans and Turkey.
The total number of additional scholarships for students coming from the Western Balkans and Turkey will be up to 140 (for all the Erasmus Mundus Programmes included in the Old Action 2).
The following countries will be covered by the "Western Balkans and Turkey Window": Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Kosovo under UNSC Resolution 1244/99, as well as the three candidate countries, namely Croatia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Turkey.

1,600 € each month for living costs during the months of duration of the program (1 academic year = 10 months) plus a fixed amount of 10,000 € to be paid in two installments of 5,000 € each per year. In order to facilitate the management of the transfer of the lump sum and the registration fee and to reduce costs for money transfer students can authorize the EMTTLF Consortium to deduct the registration fee from the lump sum.For more information about the grants, please consult the official website of Erasmus Mundus(and the Frequently Asked Questions –FAQ- section)

The Erasmus Mundus Masters Program in Public Policy (Mundus MAPP) is a 2-year-long international Masters course that embeds the nascent field of transnational public policy into a European context. It is funded by the European Commission, and operated by a consortium of four leading European institutions: the Central European University in Budapest (Hungary) as coordinating institution, the Institut Barcelona d'Estudis Internacionals (IBEI) in Spain; the Institute of Social Studies (ISS) of Erasmus University Rotterdam, located in The Hague (Netherlands); and the University of York in the UK.

The European Commission's Erasmus Mundus program provides scholarships to outstanding students from within and outside the European Union to attend Mundus MAPP and to visiting scholars to participate in teaching and research. The Consortium universities also support these students by offering partial tuition fee waivers to Erasmus Mundus scholarship recipients.
Mundus MAPP provides a detailed and systematic understanding of how political institutions, processes and public policies operate and interact from the global political economy through to national and local levels with a direct focus on European engagements at these levels of governance. The multidisciplinary curriculum is conceptually grounded in public policy, international relations, development studies, public administration and public management. The program also provides practical work experience and transferable skills gained through an internship programme. Mundus MAPP prepares graduates for international professional careers as policy-makers, policy-analysts and advisors in either politics, the civil service, international organisations or the corporate and non-governmental sectors.

The Mundus MAPP study program lasts two years. The first or foundation year is spent either at the Institute of Social Studies in the Hague, the Netherlands, or at the University of York in the UK. Having completed their courses and a thesis students participate in a summer school, and move for a second academic year either at the Barcelona Institute of International Studies in Spain or to the Central European University in Budapest, Hungary. Students undertake an internship normally after the second academic year.

Mundus MAPP graduates receive two of the following MA degrees as well as a diploma supplement at the end of their studies:
- MA in Development Studies from the Institute of Social Studies; OR
- MA in Public Administration and Public Policy from the University of York.

In combination with:
- MA in Public Policy from the Central European University; OR
- MA in International Relations from the Barcelona Institute of International Studies.
