Academic Scholarships Trustee Scholarships Purpose: To recognize applicants with strong academic records and programs.

Scholarship Amounts: Up to $80,000, distributed equally over four years of study at Allegheny (i.e. up to $20,000 per year). Financial need is not a consideration.

Renewal: Trustee Scholarships renew automatically for up to four years of full-time enrollment at Allegheny or in an Allegheny-sponsored off-campus study program. No minimum GPA is required to renew the scholarship.

Eligibility and Selection: Students recognized as Trustee Scholars usually rank in the top 25% of their high school class (or otherwise excelling in class work and other activities when the school does not rank) and have SAT/ACT scores consistent with their academic performance. Allegheny values students who balance their academic excellence with other distinctive activities. The top scholarship is awarded to the very best of the best, typically to only the top 5% of our applicants each year. A limited number of Trustee Scholarships are available to highly qualified transfer students.

Transfer applicants are also expected to earn a cumulative college grade point average of 3.0.

To Apply: Complete Allegheny's regular Application for Admission by February 15. Trustee Scholarship award winners will be notified via mail regarding their eligibility and amount of award.

Financial Considerations For the 2009-2010 academic year, the comprehensive fee, which includes tuition, room and board, and college fees, comes to $42,000. Books, supplies, health insurance and personal expenses would total approximately $4,200, for a total estimated annual cost of $46,200.

After acceptance to the College, a deposit of $400 is required to hold your place in the class. This deposit is due by May 1 for the fall semester.

Scholarship Opportunities Allegheny College has generous assistance available to international students. All international applicants will be considered for scholarships ranging from $5,000 to half- and three quarter-tuition. In addition, international students may be eligible for larger financial aid awards, including and up to full-tuition scholarships.

All international applicants, in order to be considered for these scholarships, must submit both the International Student Financial Aid Form and the Certification of Finance Form with their applications. We recommend that while completing the Certification of Finances, international applicants plan on a five-percent increase in costs annually.
