Within the Spanish CICyT research project: "Genomic tools and GxE interaction modeling applied to selection schemes in Churra sheep breed (AGL2009-07000)", being the PI Juan Jose Arranz, it has been granted a PhD student scholarship.
The objectives of this Project are the following:
- Characterization (in terms of LD) of Churra sheep genome, by using SNP chips.
- QTL search, making use of LD, for production traits.
- Genetic parameters estimation for fertility and longevity.
- Quantification of GxE interactions for functional and production traits.
PhD will be devoted mainly to the two lasts, however given the importance that currently the SNP chip technology is gaining within the field, different aspects of this technology will be consider in the candidate's thesis project.
