The Albert Einstein Center for Fundamental Physics, Laboratory for High Energy Physics at the University of Bern seeks applications for an immediate opening of a Computing Engineer Position to work on the university based Tier 3 computing cluster. This cluster is used for analysing data from the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. The successful candidate should play a central role in the maintenance and development of the Tier 3, provide central support to users in aspects related to ATLAS software for distributed analysis, and engage in ATLAS related matters at the Swiss Tier 2 at the Swiss National Super Computing Center. The position is based in Bern, but active participation in the national and international grid activities of our laboratory is expected. The position is initially of one year duration, then renewable. Applicants should have a degree in Computing Engineering, Informatics, Physics or equivalent. Experience with cluster administration, Linux, scripting, object oriented programming and distributed computing is needed. Familiarity with grid computing, high energy physics software, and good English communication skills are assets.
