The Department of Music and Media, a part of Luleå University of Technology, offers bachelor’s programs in the Media and Production Experience Division with emphasis on journalism in new media, radio production in new media, TV production in new media, media design, audio engineering and experience production. The department has about 700 students and 100 employees. Besides the subject’s traditional social studies and comprehensive humanistic perspective, media and communication studies at Luleå University of Technology have a distinct emphasis on media production, in which new and traditional media are studied from theoretical aspects and as practical interpretations of media content. Postgraduate program in media and communication The program prepares students for a research and teaching career in academia and also provides them with professional expertise for working in the media and entertainment industry. Postgraduate studies are conducted in collaboration with other researchers, nationally as well as internationally. The program also offers opportunities for integrating interpretive and practical work with the theoretical dissertation work. Bases for assessment In filling the positions, consideration will be given to the applicant’s ability to pursue postgraduate studies as per chapter 5, section 5 of the Higher Education Ordinance. Research plans and previously published material are important indicators of this ability. Applicants should be highly motivated to pursue postgraduate studies and have good cooperative and social skills. Other information The positions are full-time but temporary as per chapter 5, section 7 of the Higher Education Ordinance. The Department of Music and Media in Piteå has a unique infrastructure with production facilities for most currently existing media.
