A post-doctoral research position is available at the Institute of Forest Utilization Post doctoral Research Associate Position in Bio-based Polymers and Nanocomposites Fulltime position, start date: 01.01.2011 A post-doctoral research position is available at the Institute of Forest Utilization at the University of Freiburg starting January 2011 for an initial contract of 2 years. The position and salaries are consistent with the E13- academic researcher’s scale in Germany with the specific level depending upon experience.
The post-doctoral student will lead a research project in partnership with industry aimed at developing high performance nanocellulose -based thermosetting adhesives for wood-based products. The candidate will also have the flexibility to initiate any research project for the valorization of woody biomass through material development (eg: valorization of lignin in polymers). Besides these research activities, the candidate is expected to participate in regular academic activities including student advising, teaching, grant proposal writing and communications in peer-reviewed journals and conferences.

Required & Preferred Qualifications and Experience
A PhD/Doctorate in Polymer Chemistry, Materials Science, Wood Science or any related field is required. Individuals with good experience in wet chemistry laboratory work and wood-based materials together with a good balance of practical/ academic skills are preferred. Excellent communication skills in English are required. Fluency in German is also greatly appreciated.
