VIPS - PostDoc-Positions at MFPL
With support from the Austrian Ministry of Science & Research and the City of Vienna, VIPS offers Post-Doc Positions at the MFPL, comprising
+ 3 to 5 years of training
+ employment at the MFPL with full access to Austrian Social Insurance
+ independent research budget
+ travel money
VIPS encourages and supports Post-Docs in developing their own research ideas, to apply for independent research money and to start their own research project.
The main aim of VIPS is to prepare young researchers for their own independend research group outside the MFPL. The VIPS PostDocs will be selected through a competitive screening process in bi-annual international calls.

How to apply
We will only accept applications submitted electronically via the Online Application System on our website. The online submission form will be open from 15 September 2010 until 15 November 2010. Applications submitted by fax, email or mail can not be considered.
Please apply in time! After the application deadline we are not able to open the online submission form again.
Letter of Recommendation:
For your application we ask you for 2-3 letters of recommendation. These letters have to be sent by your refeeres to vips@mfpl.ac.at . Please encourage your refeeres to put the text "NameApplicant - Recommendation Letter" to the subject heading of the e-mail so we can definitely relate the letters to your application. The letter of reference – signed and printed on official letter paper – should be emailed before 15 November 2010 to vips@mfpl.ac.at. An information sheet for the letter of recommendation can be downloaded here. It is your responsibility to ensure that references reach us on time.

Editing your application:
After your application you will get an affirmation e-mail with all your application information. If there are any mistakes or information missing, you can edit your application during the application time. Click on the link in your affirmation e-mail and you will be able to edit your application.

Eligibility
Successful candidates are expected to have a strong training in molecular life sciences or a related discipline (MD, Mathematics, Physics, etc.) and be determined to follow an academic career in research.
You must hold a doctorate degree or equivalent before the start of the PostDoc-training but not necessarily when applying.
There are no restrictions concerning the nationality of the applicants.
Interview
The interviews for the spring selection 2010 will take place in February 2011. The results will be announced after the interview in Vienna. The successful candidates should start their fellowship until 1st of June 2011 at the latest.
All costs incurred during the selection process (traveling and stay in Vienna) will be paid by VIPS.
CAUTION: You have to have a valid passport as further selection processes (interviews, etc.) will take place in Vienna, Austria.
