PUBLIC SERVICE MANAGEMENT SPONSORSHIP FOR MASTERS DEGREE PROGRAMME

Background
The president’s Office, Public Service Management (PO-PSM) on behalf of the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania has received funds from Development Partners through basket funding arrangement for Public Service Reform Programme (PSRP) Phase II.

POPSM intends to apply part of the fund proceeds to sponsor women and public servants with disabilities seeking sponsorship for Master Degree Programme in higher learning institutionsin Tanzania during the academic year 2011/12.

The main objective of the Masters Degree programme is to create a pool of professional women and persons with disabilities who will aspire to hold decision making positions.

The sponsorship is open for any field of studies, but preference will be given to fields where women and persons with disabilities are under represented.

Selection criteria:
• Applicants must have a bachelor degree/advanced diploma with first class, second class or pass with postgraduate diploma. Certified copies of academic transcripts and relevant certificates must be attached to the application letter;
• Applicants must have regular admission letters for the academic year 2011/2012 from recognized higher learning institutions within the country (Provisional admission letters will not be accepted);
• Applications from candidates already pursuing Master Degree course under private or other sponsorship will not be considered;
• Applicants have to be recommended by their employers and for applicants with disabilities, employers will have to confirm their status. Each employer will recommend only one applicant from their Institution in this academic year;
• Applicants must have a working experience of not less than threeyears in the Public Service and three years after graduation.
• Age limit not above 48;
• Detailed curriculum vitae (CV) indicating age, education, Currentemployer and work station, Work experience and current address including email address and telephone number preferably cellular phone;
• Applicants must explain, in one page, how the training is in linewith employers’ organizational training needs/strategic plans as well as upward career progression;
• Applicants must be employee of the public service from Ministries, Independent Departments, Regional Secretariat, Districts and Executive Agencies established under Act no 30, 1997;
• Public servants with disabilities (men and women) are highlyencouraged to apply;
Support conditionsThis academic year (2011/12); the supporting criteria has changed due to various reasons.Only Tuition Fees will be paid according to institution’s feestructure. The cost of books/stationary, accommodation, field and meals will be provided for according to rates set by the sponsor.

All selected candidate will be required to sign agreement contractwith the sponsor before enrolling to the High Learning Institutions.

Mode of Application

Applications must be delivered in a sealed envelop by a registered post with acknowledge due by hand or by courier service to the address below by Monday 22nd August 2011 at 09.30hrs and clearly marked “SPONSORSHIP FOR MASTER DEGREE  PROGRAMME FOR ACADEMIC YEAR 2011/12”. 

Only successful applicants will be notified.
