Geita Gold Mine (GGM) is situated in the Lake Victoria Gold fields of North Western Tanzania located just 4 km west of Geita Town and about 120 km South of Lake Victoria, Mwanza Region. The Mine is owned and managed by a giant African Gold producing Company, Anglo Gold Ashanti Limited.

GGM currently has a vacancy for position mentioned below to work on the Mine Site. The primary motive of this position is to provide truly innovative and integrated business solution to meet and support functions to ensure the smooth delivery that impact across all areas of GGM operations.

POSITION: EXPEDITING OFFICER
PURPOSE: To provide a material supply service in the respect of expediting Purchase orders to site.
REPORTS TO: Senior Expediting Officer
QUALIFICATIONS: BBA. Procurement and Logistic Management / Advanced Diploma in Materials Management

KEY RESULT AREA:
1.0 Purchasing
Scanning (e-mail) of all purchase orders raised by purchasing Department to respective suppliers and obtaining acknowledgement of receipt of order from supplier.
Assist in purchasing operations as and when required to do so.

2.0 Expediting.
  • Obtain a delivery date to Freight Forwarders from the Supplier and recording of such on Geita stats report..
  • Expedite overdue orders with Suppliers and record revised delivery dates on Geita stats report.
  • Liaise with Suppliers, Freight Forward at country of origin as well as country of destination to ensure that all documentation required for CONTECNA (DIS) issues are in order
  • Obtain all documentation relevant to the container and keep on file until container is received on site.
  • Expedite container from Port of dispatch to Port of destination and record on Geita stats report.
  • Expedite CONTECNA (DIS) issue with the relevant parties and ensure that containers are released from port of destination within two weeks of receipt. Record relevant information on Geita stats report
  • Keep a record of all reasons for delay at Port of destination and take corrective action when required.
  • Upon arrival of container on site arrange with Freight Forwarder for immediate off-loading of container and de-stuffing thereof within 48 hours and record relevant information on SUN/Mainpac system/Geitastats report.
3.0 Administration
  • Update tracking report as and when required.
  • Keep record of off all containers and ensure containers are uplifted on regular basis (FIFO).
  • Control all demurrage costs involved with containers.
  • Maintain purchase reports and prepare purchasing statistics for month end report
  • Monitor Supplier performance and lead times and liaise with Inventory Controller with regards to changes to Min/Max levels if required.
4.0 Health and Safety
Adhere to HSE standard requirements.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Previously worked as an Expeditor
  • Previous Experience in Freight Forwarding
  • Previous experience in Mining. Manufacturing or Retail Stores Operation
  • High level of computer skill (Excel and Microsoft Word)
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Self started and carry out tasks with minimum Supervision.
Good command of both English and Swahili.

POSITION: SENIOR PROCUREMENT OFFICER

PURPOSE: To provide material supply service in respect of issuing enquiries, adjudicating and placing of Purchase Orders to meet the requirements of GGM.
REPORTS TO: Purchasing & Procurement Superintendent
QUALIFICATIONS: BBA. Procurement and Logistic Management / Advanced Diploma in Materials Management.
KEY RESULT AREAS:
Purchasing
  • Issuing enquiries against re order report and direct purchase requisitions.
  • Adjudicating quotes received and providing recommendations on the award.
  • Raising purchase orders in terms of the approved adjudication and procurement policies and procedures
  • Assist in expediting function as and when required to do so.
  • Supply end users with updates on their outstanding issues.
  • Supply report data when required.
  • Liaise with accounts and suppliers to resolve any payment queries
Expediting
  • Obtain a delivery date to Freight Forwarder from Supplier and recording of such on Mainpac System/ Geita stats report.
  • Expediting overdue orders with Suppliers and record revised delivery dates on Geita stats report.
  • Expedite container from Port of dispatch to Port of destination and record on Geita stats report.
  • Expedite CONTECNA (DIS) issue with the relevant parties with relevant parties and ensure that containers are released from port of destination and take corrective action when required.
Relationship with Suppliers and Customers
  • Communicate with end users on purchase queries and provide advise where possible.
  • Resolve queries from internal and external sources.
  • Inform originators of Purchase requisitions of arrival of the respective orders on site.
  • Liaise with all concerned parties to ensure that containers are de stuffed regularly.
  • Visit Freight Forwarder companies on regular basis to ensure that no unnecessary delays/costs are being incurred.
Administration
  • Ensure that all purchase orders and corresponds is filed correctly
  • Control all demurrage costs involved with containers.
  • Maintain purchasing reports and prepare purchasing statistics for the month end report.
  • Monitor Supplier performance and lead times and liaise with Inventory Controller with regards to changes to Min/Max levels if required.
Health and Safety.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • 5 years working experience in Purchasing Operations, as a Buyer and Expeditor.
  • Dynamic knowledge and understanding of the supply chain, Freight Forwarder, (Clearing and Forwarding agent), Cotecna/Tiscan destination inspection and the Mining environment.
  • Experience in computerised Inventory management and purchasing techniques
  • High level of computer skills (MS Word and Excel).
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Good leadership skills
  • Must be a good motivator.
  • Must be well versed in English ( Written & Spoken)
  • Possession of Class D Tanzania Driving Licence.

Buzwagi Project is currently seeking experienced qualified applicants to apply for the position of Mechanical Fitter within the Process Plant.

KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    * Ensure total adherence to all Safety, Occupational Health and Environmental Policies, as well as other policies, procedures and guidelines.
    * Conduct mechanical repair and preventative maintenance to maintain Process Plant equipment in a safe and efficient manner to achieve production and cost targets.
    * Ensure that maintenance practices result in maximum plant availability.  Meeting or exceeding planned mill availability is a Key Performance Indicator.
    * Complete assigned work in a safe and timely manner with minimum supervision and to an internationally acceptable standard.
    * Keep workplace in a safe working condition.
    * Provide accurate and timely feedback to Mechanical Supervisor on conditions that may affect functionality of equipment.
    * Carry out troubleshooting, fault finding and corrective maintenance in order to solve unplanned equipment unavailability events.
    * Actively participate in training activities to gain new skills and develop full potential.
    * Be proactive in all aspects of Process Plant security to prevent and eliminate theft and fraud.
    * Participate with regular safety meetings.
    * Ensure no disruption to work due to industrial relations issues.
    * Ensure adherence to all Barrick policies and procedures.
    * Carry out any other relevant duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL DETAILS
    * FTC/Trade test grade 1 in mechanical discipline.

KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Ensure total adherence to all Safety, Occupational Health and Environmental Policies of PML, as well as other policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Provide technical leadership to the Buzwagi Process Plant operation to ensure agreed targets are achieved, within corporate safety and environmental guidelines.
  • Responsible for the administration of the process control system.
  • Configure and maintain Citect SCADA and Siemens S7 PLCs.
  • Participate in and support commissioning of Buzwagi Process Plant.
  • Continually review every aspect of the systems to ensure that opportunities to add value are identified and implemented.  Initiate and lead continuous improvement projects.
PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL DETAILS
  • B Sc. Electrical, Computer Science, Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering, or similar.
  • Experience in SCADA projects in the Mining sector is preferred.  Experience in manufacturing or the power industry would be acceptable.
  • Controls and Instrumentation background.
  • Citect SCADA experience.  Citect certification would be highly regarded.
  • Knowledge of Siemens PLC 7.
  • PLC programming skills, design and code generation.
  • Must be proficient in modern communication systems and protocols including Profibus.
  • Proven track record implementing, developing and administering process control systems.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to operational and maintenance teams.
  • Experience in systematic coaching and training of employees would be beneficial.
  • Previous commissioning experience would be advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills required.
  • Minimum of 5 years post graduate experience with PLCs and SCADA systems. Citect SCADA and Siemens PLC preferred.
