Reports to: Chief Mining Engineer

KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Leadership necessary to ensure that employees and contractors adhere to safety standards that exceed world industry standards and any applicable legislation and achieve Zero Lost Time Injury (LTI) Frequency Rate
  • Undertake open pit optimisation, design pit and dumps to Barrick standards and requirements.
  • Timely preparation of Mine Budgets and Life of the Mine Plans (LOM) to meet advised deadlines.
  • Prepare mid and end of the year Ore Reserves reports.
  • Prepare Mine Forecasts, monthly Mine Plans, Statistics and Reports
  • Undertake Ore Reserves reconciliation in conjunction with Geology, Metallurgy and Senior Mining Engineer – Production.
  • Be pro-active in all aspects of operation safety, efficient utilisation of resources, Continuous Improvement ideas and Projects; and encourage teamwork across the departments
  • Any other duties that may be assigned to fulfil the overall business objective.
  • Take part in Succession Planning within the Mining Team to ensure progressive development of Tanzanian employees to assume positions of increasing accountability.
  • Manage business decisions and transaction in compliance to the Company Code of Ethics and compliance to the Sarbenes-Oxley (SOX) law and standards.
  • Deputise for the Chief Mine Engineer as required.
PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL DETAILS
  • Degree in Mining Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years in large open pit hard rock mining with at least two years recent experience in gold mining industry.
  • Mining operation experience, Strategic and short term mine planning and scheduling, Mining equipment selection and performance
  • Consistent demonstration of Barrick Core Values, Strong conceptual thinking ability, Resilient and Resourceful
  • Performance Orientation, Decisive and timely delivery of results, Hold employees accountable and Strong commercial acumen.
