Reports to: Medical Superintendent
Location: North Mara Gold Mine, Tarime District. Mara Region.
Work Schedule: Rotation Status, (8 weeks on, 4 weeks off)
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Providing primary health care on a daily basis, including being available for rotational shift work.
- Providing emergency care to trauma / medical patients, and arranging for evacuation and/or referral.
- Providing medical advice to employees on health insurance matters, infectious diseases, disease outbreaks, vaccination and travel advice.
- Addressing individual needs relating to HIV/AIDS care and treatment.
- Conducting medical surveillance for employees including assessment of their fitness for work and possibility for workplace adjustments.
- Involvement in various interventions, and health promotion programs to improve quality of health to Barrick employees, contractors and community members.
- A holder of Doctor of Medicine Degree from recognized University.
- A minimum of 2 years experience in medical practice post internship.
- A medical doctor with registration applicable to Tanzania.
- Ability to liaise with other treating specialists to ensure optimal patient management.
- Postgraduate qualification(s) in Emergency Medicine/Advanced Trauma Life Support, Family Medicine or Occupational Health will be advantageous.
- Possession of a valid Tanzanian Driving License.
- Excellent communication skills in both English and Kiswahili
- Flexibility and ability to work within a multi- cultural environment
- Positive attitude and commitment towards workplace health, safety and environment issues
- Prioritizing of tasks and good time management
- Ability to multi-task and handle pressure well
