Service Area: Financial Sector Development Country: Tanzania Description: Emerging Markets Group (EMG) is currently seeking candidates for a Horticulture Cluster Specialist on the current USAID-funded Cluster Competitiveness Program in Tanzania. The program has identified particular clusters for support, including horticulture, food processing and tourism. The next phase of the program will focus on developing strategies for each industry cluster. This is a short-term assignment. The Horticulture Cluster Specialist will provide technical assistance in development of a strategic plan to enhance the competitive position of Tanzania’s horticulture sector in the global marketplace. Qualifications: Advanced degree in agriculture, horticulture, agribusiness, economics or a relevant field 15+ years of experience working in the horticulture industry with expertise as advisor to companies and projects Must have expertise designing competitive strategies for the horticulture sector in positioning for the global marketplace, and experience conducting horticulture competitiveness assessments Prior experience managing horticulture operations or export companies, and/or competitiveness initiatives preferred Possess extensive knowledge of trends and practices in horticulture globally with an understanding of international dynamics along the horticulture value chain Demonstrated ability to work effectively with industry leaders and local partners Previous horticulture experience in developing countries, particularly East Africa Excellent analytical, verbal, written, and presentation skills Fluency in English required Special Instructions: If interested and qualified for this position, please send your CV today to EGrecruitment@emergingmarketsgroup.com – indicate “Horticulture-Tanzania” in the subject line of your email for prompt consideration.
