Qualifications:

• National of an ACP or EU member state;
• Post-graduate degree in development, social sciences, human rights, or other relevant fields;
• Excellent team management and communication skills;
• Fluent language skills in spoken and written English;
• Swahili will be an advantage;
• Excellent diplomatic skills;
• At least 10 years of exp. in management of development programmes, preferably aimed at, or with high level of involvement of NSAs (civil society capacity building, governance, human rights, community and/or rural development, conflict prevention or resolution etc...)
• At least 7 years exp. in technical and financial programme management;
• At least 5 years exp. in Africa with a preference for East Africa;
• At least 5 years of exp. in designing and managing NSA capacity building programmes, with a distinct relation towards promoting good governance;
• Familiar with civil society (NSA) structures (e.g networks), operations and constraints in (East) Africa and Kenya in particular;
• Familar with government policies and approaches towards NSAs in (East) Africa and particularly Kenya;
• Thorough exp. with Calls for Proposals, grants management;
• Thorough exp. with the management of EC funded programmes and EDF rules and regulations will be an important advantage.
