Job description:
At the Department of Political Science and Public Management, University of Southern Denmark, a one-year position as postdoc is available within the field of international studies and with a particular focus on international security. The position is available from July 1, 2010 or earlier.

International studies at the Department maintains a classic broad approach to the field in order to teach at both bachelors’ and masters’ levels and to engender general discussions on theoretical classics, the current research frontier, and international affairs. However, our research projects tend to focus on security issues, and it is this dimension, in particular, that we now wish to strengthen. A successful applicant should be able to contribute to work and discussions along one of the following dimensions:

- Human security issues in the management of global threats (from nuclear proliferation to climate change)
- Small wars and counterinsurgency
- Transatlantic security relations and the future of NATO

To qualify for the position, applicants must have a PhD degree in Political Science or another relevant PhD degree within the Social Sciences. Applicants are expected to be able to contribute independently to one of the three core research areas.

The Department is responsible for the programme in Political Science, the major in social studies and BA and MA programmes in Journalism. The Department also offers a number of part-time master programmes.

Application, salary, etc.:
Employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.

The application must include 1) a research plan for the postdoc year; 2) a detailed CV; 3) a complete list of publications, indicating which publications are most relevant for the position; 4) three copies of the most relevant publications (up to 10); 5) academic diplomas; 6) a list of all enclosures. All enclosures must be numbered, state the applicant’s name and be assembled in sets.

Applications will be assessed by a committee. When the committee has submitted its assessment, the applicants will receive their relevant part of the assessment.
