Job description: Applications are invited for a 3-year position as professor at the Mads Clausen Institute for Product Innovation, University of Southern Denmark in Sønderborg, starting August 1st, 2010. The Mads Clausen Institute for Product Innovation has 90 employees engaged in research and teaching in the field of mechatronic products. It is located in the new university facility Alsion with modem labs, teaching facilities and a sea view - www.alsion.dk. The position contributes research-wise to Sønderborg Participatory Innovation Research Centre. SPIRE is a strategic research centre that aims to make fundamental contributions to the theory and practice of user-driven innovation in close cooperation with Danish and international industry partners. Our research is interdisciplinary: It brings together researchers from design anthropology, interaction analysis, interaction design, user-centred design and innovation management in a collaboration between the faculties of Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences, and the theatre group Dacapo. SPIRE has presently a research staff of 18 professors and postdocs and 8 PhD-students. We also collaborate with the Institute of Industry and Building at the Campus in Odense to expand research in the field of Experience Design. The successful applicant will be expected to develop the research field of Participatory Innovation, to help position SPIRE internationally, to attract and lead research projects with external funding, to oversee the graduate programme IT Product Design, and to enhance PhD education. The teaching language for the graduate programmes is English. Applicants must demonstrate (a) a record of research contributions on the highest international level in the fields of participatory design or management of complex relational processes, (b) an exceptional teaching portfolio in the relevant field, (c) experience in successfully organizing and supervising interdisciplinary activities and (d) proficiency in establishing collaboration with industry.
