Thank you Andrew Mushi for sharing this opportunity alert.Background: The overall objective of USAID/Tanzania’s Leadership Training Program is to provide the U.S. based academic training (at the Master’s Degree level) required to strengthen the base of skilled, high performing professionals in Tanzania. These individuals (and institutions from which they come) must be able to implement and support policies; exercise equity, accountability and transparency in managing public resources; provide better service delivery; participate more actively in and contribute more broadly to the country’s economic and social development; and generally impact USAID’s priority sectors, thereby leading to a more functional society. The intertwined objectives of the Leadership Training program are:- Leadership Skills:
It is envisioned that under the first year of this program USAID/Tanzania will select up to seven (7) participants who would begin their Masters Degree program in the U.S. starting in August 2010. For the current application cycle, the USAID Leadership Training Program will consider applications for the following fields: Public Health; Basic Education; and Water and Sanitation. The participants will be selected through an open competition using a fair, competitive and transparent process. Interested applicants must meet the Key Selection Requirements and will need to submit a written application that includes a completed application form, a statement of purpose and a resume (see below). Interviews will also be conducted with top applicants to assess their experience, academic qualifications, and involvement and demonstrated commitment to being a leader in their sector. USAID/Tanzania is ultimately responsible for making the final selection of the participants. Successful candidates must be able to obtain a written letter of support from their employer (Ministry, etc.) and assurances that they will remain employed upon completion of this program.
