The objective of SPN is to support local NGOs in the purchase of vulnerable nature, with the aim to conserve biodiversity on the long term. IUCN NL administrates the Small Grants for the Purchase of Nature (SPN) programme since 2001 with support of the National Postal Code Lottery. How to apply: Local NGOs from tropical countries can present proposals to the SPN Secretariat. Project proposals should meet the criteria and formats. An advisory board evaluates the proposals on a regular basis. NGOs from Eastern Europe and CIS countries should contact the secretariat of the EECONET Action Fund. The SPN will work in close contact with the Ecosystem Grants Programme of IUCN NL. Deadline: The next deadline for pre-proposals is on the 1st of May 2010 (12.00 GMT). Criteria for funding: Download the criteria in English or Spanish. Formats for Preproposals To increase efficiency of the procedure, applicants are advised to send a brief outline of the proposed project first (2 pages maximum). Thus giving the IUCN NL/SPN a better opportunity to see if the proposal fits within the criteria and to give valuable suggestions before time is invested in writing a full proposal.
