Sponsored by the MUHAS-Harvard Training Program Eligibility: Selected students, researchers, and faculty with a wide range of backgrounds are eligible to participate in the Fogarty International Center Clinical Research Scholars Program. Interested candidates should have healthcare experience with a medical, dental, or nursing background OR an interest in quantitative methods including statistics and epidemiology. Preference will be given to candidates from Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences, however all interested applicants are encouraged to apply to be supported on the basis of need. What: This program offers one year of mentored clinical research training in Tanzania. It expands upon international opportunities for new investigators seeking hands-on experience working in resource-limited and transitional countries. Such experiences during a formative period will hopefully encourage these researchers to pursue careers in global health-related clinical research. The program also provides support for graduate-level clinical research activities as well as a stipend for a Tanzanian scholar to work alongside a U.S. scholar during the clinical research year. Two Tanzanian scholars will be selected to participate in this program beginning in August 2010, with a brief training event in Washington, DC in July 2010. Where: Admitted scholars will participate in research activities both independently and in collaboration with academic and research staff members at the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences. When: The application process begins IMMEDIATELY and selected students will begin their program in August 2010 through May 2011.
