The Division of Epidemiology & Biostatistics, School of Public Health, a dynamic, vibrant and growing part of Wits University seeks candidates with excellent skills in epidemiology and biostatistics. The applicants are expected to contribute to epidemiologic research in communicable diseases and chronic non-communicable diseases, development of epidemiologic and statistical methods and to be actively involved in the Master of Science in Epidemiology and further postgraduate programmes offered by the School of Public Health.

Applications are invited for the following positions
Epidemiologist

• leading role in developing and expanding a research programme in communicable and/or chronic non-communicable diseases in population and/or clinic-based research
• contributing to post-graduate MSc, MPH, PhD and short-course teaching programme with regard to epidemiological methods

Requirements: PhD in epidemiology and/or related areas, research experience and publication output, teaching and postgraduate supervision experience, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, evidence of successful grant applications.

Biostatistician/Specialist in Data Management/Medical Informatics/E-learning

• leading role to develop a research and teaching programme in e-learning and data management for the postgraduate MSc, MPH, PhD and short course programmes
• contributing to data management systems of the School of Public Health
• contributing  to statistical support for staff and students and to the School’s postgraduate teaching and short course programme

Requirements: minimum of a Master’s degree, preferably PhD in epidemiology/biostatistics/data management/medical informatics/e-learning, research experience and publication output, teaching and postgraduate supervision experience, excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
