Description AED is recruiting for several positions in East Africa for projects that focus on building systems and capacity at the Ministry of Education in the some or all of the following areas:   in-service teacher education for primary education, education policy, improved EMIS and decentralized planning, use of ICT in the classroom, and monitoring, and evaluation, including the measurement of student learning.

Position: Chief of Party
The ideal candidate will have a mixture of educational technical expertise and at least 8 years of project management experience ideally as a Chief of Party of USAID or other donor-funded education programs in Africa, preferably East Africa. The candidate must be fluent in English and preferably strong or fluent in Kiswahili. 

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the lead technical representative for the project, maintaining good relations with the Ministry of Education (MOE), USAID, and other stakeholders.
  • Recruit, supervise, and develop local staff;
  • Lead project team to achieve goals;
  • Oversee and ensure accountability for all procurement, logistics and financial operations; and
  • Produce high quality and accurate quarterly reports for USAID and MOE.
Qualifications:  Ph.D, Ed.D or Master’s degree in education or related field, excellent team-building, communication and interpersonal skills; excellent writing and reporting skills.
