The European Virtual Institute of Malaria Research (EVIMalaR) network invites applications for fellowship awards. Three awards are envisaged in the first instance and each award will be for 3 years. Current funding indicates that the opportunity for renewal will NOT be possible. Evimalar is a joint research FP7 Network of Excellence, funded by the European Commission and currently involving 42 partners from 33 institutes in Europe, Africa, India and Australia (co-ordinated at the University of Glasgow, Scotland, UK). It seeks to integrate malaria research that is directed towards a better understanding of the basic knowledge of the parasite, its vector and of the biology of the interactions between the parasite and both its mammalian host and vectors. This project started in 1st October 2009 and is currently funded until 30 September 2014. The research interests of the network are summarised on the web site where further details of how to apply may also be found (www.evimalar.org). Two types of proposal may be submitted:
Research Resource proposals must meet the following criteria:
Excellence
- Provides significant added value to the malaria/vector research community
- Should also be research-based
- Is unlikely to be funded by external agencies and no internal funding to meet this demand is available.
- Applications that are able to provide leveraged funding are preferred but not essential.
Excellence
- Work is to be split between two member/affiliate groups. There must be at least one member partner of EVIMalaR involved.
- Proposals must originate from the individual, applications from PI/Affiliate partnerships seeking a fellow will NOT be accepted.
