The University of the Witwatersrand, Faculty of Health Sciences, School of Clinical Medicine Steve Biko Centre for Bioethics is happy to announce its FIRST CALL  for early applications to its 2011 MSc Med (Bioethics and Health Law) programme.

The Steve Biko Centre for Bioethics MSc Med (Bioethics & Health Law) programme will provide students with the training to work and reflect professionally on issues in bioethics and health law, and will ground them in historical, philosophical, legal, and social science approaches for addressing the myriad of dilemmas we face as healthcare and healthcare law practitioners.  We prepare candidates who will specialise in bioethics and health law with an emphasis on innovative interdisciplinary research and scholarship in bioethics and health law.

This two-year post graduate bioethics and health law course is appropriate for holders of a postgraduate degree who now work in the healthcare professions and who are interested in bioethical issues, dual-degree post graduate students, and mid-to-late career professionals in healthcare, the law or related fields.

All classes are held in the Faculty of Health Sciences Building at Wits Medical School weekdays from ±08:00-16:00. First year required units (on site) January 24-28 Introduction to Bioethics; February 7-11 Introduction to Health Law; February 15-18 Research Ethics; and February 21-25 Environmental Bioethics.
