The Postdoc project is part of a research project in collaboration between DTU Fotonik and Bang & Olufsen. Part of the work may be carried out at Bang & Olufsen.
Project
The project is titled "Processing of coded video for LED backlight dimming of LCD displays for energy savings and high contrast”. It is funded by the Danish Strategic Research Council and it is headed by S. Forchhammer, DTU Fotonik.
The project is about processing of decoded video for local dimming of LED based backlight systems for LCD displays. This novel LCD/LED display technology may potentially reduce power consumption significantly and at the same time improve image quality. The new display technology implies a novel way of representing the video signal to control LCD elements for each picture element and a local control of LED backlight elements. The project shall develop algorithms for local backlight dimming, to improve power consumption and image quality by jointly designing processing from reception of MPEG video to display on screen.
We seek one Postdoc. Two PhD students are working on the project.
The project is located within the Coding and Visual Communication Group at DTU Fotonik and it will be conducted in collaboration with Bang & Olufsen and McMaster University, Canada. Part of the project work may be carried out at Bang & Olufsen.
