The HEU coordinates this programme, which is offered through the School of Public Health and Family Medicine at UCT.
Target audience
This programme is usually attended by graduates from health sciences and social sciences.
Course content
The course work includes the following modules:
- Health policy and planning
- Theory and application of economic evaluation in health care
- Economics of health systems
- Quantitative methods for health economists
- Microeconomics for the health sector
- Health research methods
- Epidemiology
- Biostatistics
- The entry requirement is at least a second class honours degree in economics, health and social sciences, or equivalent, from an approved university.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is also required.
- A demonstration of very good quantitative skills (i.e. good mathematic skills) is also an essential requirement.
