Currently ABG has open position for Senior Environmental Officer in Environment Department at Tulawaka Mine site.
African Barrick Gold (ABG) We are seeking dedicated, self motivated and highly organized Senior Environmental Officer
to Join Environment Team so as to work at Tulawaka Environment Department to achieve and surpass safety and quality objectives to the reward of both the individual and PML.

Reporting Line: Environmental Manager.

Location: Tulawaka Mine Site

Work Schedule: Rotational Status (6 Weeks on 3 Weeks off)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Assist in maintaining a current environmental management system to ensure compliance with international environmental standards.
· Implement a training program to ensure the implementation of internal and corporate environmental procedures in all the activities
· Coordinate all environmental monitoring processes and systems to ensure that impacts can be identified and managed in an appropriate timeframe
· Manage the acquisition, storage and interpretation of environmental data and propose and implement mitigation measures
· Provide technical environmental advice and support to functional areas
· Make planned field inspections as well as internal audits, and keep records of findings and follow up observations closure
Support in the elaboration of Environmental Management Plans as well as Management of Change for all activities in the mine
· Identify opportunities and alternatives for waste management in the operations
· Support in the design of rehabilitation, closure and post closure plans, during and after operations
· Internal and external interaction with stakeholders including community and regulators
· Assist in environmental reporting requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful applicants must have the following qualifications/skills:
· Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
· Minimum 3 years experience 1 of which must be in supervising mining operations in similar positions
· Demonstrated experience implementing Environmental Management Systems and ISO 14001
· Knowledge of relevant environmental legislation, international standards and best practices for the mining industry specifically on CIL operations required
· Demonstrated skills in planning, analysis, problem solving and lead by example
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required to give occasional presentations.
· Demonstrated skills in the use of MS Office software.
· Excellent organisational and time management skills required to meet deadlines.
