My name is Samuel Elibariki Kaaya from Tanzania.Iam 23 years old, student of IAA(Imstitute of Accountancy Arusha).Iam the first born out of four children of Elibariki Kaaya.Due to the life problem of my parents(low living standard)that create even problem of studying not only me but also my youngs. Both my parents are peasants. All i need from you is just a help of my studies including school fee, faculty tools such as computer because iam taking faculty of information technology. Also i have the problem of meal and accomodation because iam live in hostel. Thanks alot. By mid-January 2010, several weeks of heavy rain had destroyed homes, crops, pastures, roads, and bridges in Tanzania. The heavy rains had affected an estimated 40,000 people, many of whom lost their homes, and academic terms had to be delayed as displaced residents sought shelter in schoolhouses. In these images, red indicates vegetation, and croplands appear as rectangles of red or gray. In both images, white clouds cast their shadows onto the land surface below. Pale brown indicates muddy water, which is prominent in the image from January 2010. Acquired at the same time of year, these images show the dramatic impact of heavy rains that pushed rivers over their banks and onto nearby floodplains in 2010. Chinese govt. loans TAZARA while Chinese companies agree on a joint venture in nickel exploration 28/01/2010
TAZARA loan THE government of China has advanced a $39-million interest-free loan to the financially embattled Tanzania-Zambia Railways Authority (TAZARA). Zambia’s Communication and Transport Minister, Geoffrey Lungwangwa, says that the money will be used to procure six locomotive engines and four wagons and to repair 120 wagons. The railway line was built in the early 1970s with the assistance of the Chinese. Lungwangwa says, since Zambia’s economy is growing, it will require a reliable railway line to cater for increased copper and agricultural production. The line is the main link for landlocked Zambia to the Tanzanian port of Dar es Salaam and the principal export route for copper and cobalt from Zambia and the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Katanga province. Lungwangwa says a team of experts from China will soon be dispatched to work with TAZARA’s management to evaluate its viability and to carry out a comprehensive study on how it could link other countries through the railway network. TAZARA currently has fewer than 300 of the 2 000 wagons it needs and has been working at around 40% of its capacity since 2000. It is also facing various legal suits from creditors, including suppliers and contractors, as well as former workers. This state of affairs has forced Zambia’s largest copper producer, Konkola Copper Mines, to resort to exporting the commodity by road, mainly through South African ports - (EngineeringNews). Joint venture in mining Two Chinese mining companies, Beijing Songshanheli Mining Investment Co. Ltd. and Jinchuan Mining have agreed to a joint venture to explore for nickel in Tanzania. The deal with Jinchuan will allow the exploration to happen as a joint venture with Jinchuan being the project operator a work expected to begin early this year.. In March 2009, Songshanheli was granted an option to buy Tanzanian Royalty's interest in the Kabanga nickel belt. China's involvement in Tanzania goes back decades and encompasses a wide range of industries, including construction, mining and farming (Forbes & AP). ![]() cities in South Africa hosting the WC 2010 Fears of increased human trafficking during the Fifa World Cup have prompted the Salvation Army to launch a toll-free hotline aimed at helping people trafficked into the country. "We don't want to create a hype around 2010 but we fear it [human trafficking] will increase for purposes of commercial sex work," said Major Marike Venter, national co-ordinator of the Salvation Army anti trafficking task team. She was addressing media at the launch of the toll-free number in Johannesburg on Tuesday. The number - 0800-RESCUE or 0800-737283 - is expected to operate 24 hours a day. Callers could be addressed in eight South African languages but there was no capacity to introduce languages like Portuguese, French and Swahili - languages mainly spoken in other African countries, said Brian Adams of Herd, the organisation running the toll-free line for the Salvation Army. "At the moment we don't have capacity but as we get more funding, we'll be able to expand," Adams said. The toll-free number was for victims of human trafficking to report their cases and to for those wishing to report incidents of human trafficking. Venter urged the government to pass legislation on human trafficking to make it easier for police to deal with traffickers. "We know that the draft bill is being discussed in Parliament so we are adding our voice in support of what other organisation have said," she said. She said the Salvation Army had consulted with government and the SA Police Service in setting up the line. It's with no doubt that social networks like Twitter and Facebook are changing the way people communicate and share information in today's world. From the alerts of the 2008 Mumbai attacks to the reportings of the 2009 Iran election and the 2010 Haiti earthquake, Twitter and Facebook have been sharing these and other breaking news and infomation quickly than ever before, so much so that it can't just be ignored anymore. If you haven't joined any social networks and if you needed any recommendation, I would suggest the you join Twitter and/or Facebook. Let's see how people make use of the hashtag or number sign (#) and atsign (@) in Twitter. In one of my past posts, I explained how to use the @ sign in Facebook to tag people (you may click here to read that post). ![]() Using the #tag in Twitter: In Twitter, the "hashtag" is used as a way of grouping or categorizing tweets that eventually become indexed for an easy find when searching. For instance, during the US presidential debates or Mumbai bombings or Iranian elections, tweeple used certain hashtags in their tweets when discussing the debates, updates on the victims of the Mumbai bombings and election results. This way, people could easily search in twitter specific news about a certain event and then follow all comments that include the hash tag. So in real time, you can follow the comments and respond to them, creating a conversation about a given topic. Thus, if an item or word has been hash tagged by many people, such as #follow friday, then it becomes easy to find. Others use the # tagto denote discussion of events, groups, TV shows, movies, themed discussions, world events, and more. ![]() Using the @ sign in Twitter:
That anybody can read your tweets if they click on your username? So, if you think using the @sign will prevent some people from seeing your tweets, the answer is NO, it won't, people can still see them when they click to read your profile. If you want to say something in private, then DM them or send an email or better still, call them by phone. PS: Tweeple or Twiple are People who have twitter accounts and tweet periodically. Twiland or Tweeland is a virtual world where twiple or tweeple live and tweet. If you have a twitter account and you do tweet, then you are automatically a twiland resident.
