Boasting over seven million subscribers in the country, the new tariff which goes under the promotional slogan “HABARI NDIO HII” will be permanent and not a promotion or seasonal tariff.

Vodacom Tanzania Corporate Affairs Managing Executive, Ms Mwamvita Makamba, introduced the new tariff on Tuesday dubbing it a revolution in the telecommunication industry in the country.
“In the minds of many it had been almost inconceivable that a company such as ours, being the biggest in the market and having invested heavily in the state of the art technology with the widest quality coverage, can introduce such a low tariff and still maintain other products that ease communication”, she said.
“We want to assure Tanzanians that yes, this is possible, we have done it and we will continue to invest heavily on our network to continue providing meangful products and services that assist in economic empowerment of the people” added Mwamvita.
Vodacom has been in Tanzania for 10 years now and the company predicts huge growth in the sector this year and years to come.
“We are very optimistic about the future and excited to be able to provide the cheapest tariff in the market at the moment more than any other mobile phone company in Tanzania.”
Vodacom Tanzania, will still maintain its other Tariff promotions such as Voda jamaa and Cheka.
With Cheka Time Vodacom subscribers can get free talking minutes at costs ranging from 200 Tanzania shillings to 2000 shillings.
Cheka 200 will allow customers to speak for 15 minutes. Cheka 200 is currently restricted to coastal region only. Roll out in other regions will happen in the near future.
At the cost of 500 shillings a subscriber can speak for 60 minutes throughout the day whereas at a cost of 2000 shillings a customer can speak for 100 minutes for two days.
“Vodacom assures its customers that this is only the continuation of the company’s innovations and many more great products are to come”, said Ms Makamba.
She said that with the low tariff, speed and efficiency Vodacom continues to give our customers a greater experience in mobile communication while leading the industry in the country.
