BENEFITS
(1) Receive up to 1,200, 000 yen per year for working as a research assistant.
(2) Exemption from 300,000 yen enrollment fee and 535,800 yen (per year) tuition fee.
(3) Receive 200,000 yen for travel and initial living costs (given only to applicants who are living outside Japan at the time of application)

ELIGIBILITY
Applicants are required to meet all of the following conditions
(1) To have or to be expected to acquire a master's degree before enrollment.
(2) To have intention, adequate knowledge and research skill to work as a research assistant under the one of research projects listed here
(3) To have an excellent academic record
(4) To have a high English proficiency
(5) To be 35 years old or under at the time of enrollment
(6) To have other than Japanese nationality

Kwa mujibu wa taarifa za habari kupitia magazeti ya Mwananchi na HabariLeo, yaah, habari ndo hiyo hapo chini!
Jeshi la Polisi Kanda Maalum ya Dar es Salaam limewakamata raia wawili wa Bulgaria wanaodaiwa kuiba zaidi ya sh milioni 70 katika mashine za kutolea fedha, ATM jijini Dar es Salaam. Watuhumiwa hao, Nedko Stanchen (34) na Stella Nedekcheva (23) walikamatwa mwishoni mwa wiki jijini humo baada ya polisi kuweka mtego wakishirikiana na benki ya Barclays wilayani Kinondoni.

Kamanda wa Polisi wa kanda hiyo, Suleiman Kova amesema leo kuwa, vijana hao wanadaiwa kuhusika katika mtandao wa wizi wa fedha katika mashine za ATM za benki mbalimbali. Amesema, polisi waliweka mtego baada ya mfanyakazi wa benki ya Barclays kugundua kuwa kuna vifaaa vilikuwa vimewekwa katika mashine za ATM. Amewaeleza waandishi wa habari kuwa, mfanyakazi huyo alikuwa anafanya usafi, na kwa mujibu wa Kova, vifaa vilivyowekwa kwenye mashine za ATM ni kamera na kifaa cha kunakili taarifa za wateja zilizomo kwenye kadi za ATM. Kwa mujibu wa Polisi, watuhumiwa hao wameiba fedha katika mashine za ATM za benki tofauti, na wamekutwa na kadi tano za ATM za benki ya Barclays, Stanbic na vifaa mbalimbali vya mtandao huo wa wizi.

“Hawa watuhumiwa waliweza kuja na mbinu yao ambayo nahisi kuwa ni ya muda mrefu tangu waanze kuitumia tayari fedha nyingi zimeibwa, tumewakamata na vifaa maalumu vyenye uwezo wa kunakili taarifa za wateja toka katika kadi zao za ATM na hivyo kuwarahisishia kuchota fedha toka katika Mashine hizo na baada ya kubaini hilo tuliweka mtego mara moja na kufanikiwa kuwakamata” amesema Kova.

Applications for Emerging Leaders International Fellows Program

Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society Accepting Applications for Emerging Leaders International Fellows Program

Part of the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, the Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society focuses on giving, volunteerism, and nonprofit entrepreneurship by individual donors, foundations, and corporations in the United States and around the world.

The center's Emerging Leaders International Fellows Program provides nonprofit sector leadership training through seminars, applied research, and mentorships. The program is open to young scholars and practitioners interested in building third sector capacity in their home countries or regions. Fellows are based at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York.

Fellows will participate in a three-month seminar (March 1 to May 28, 2010) on the U.S. and international voluntary sectors. During the seminar, they will learn about the work of key agencies, meet with foundation leaders and other nonprofit representatives, and attend selected workshops and conferences.

Fellows are expected to produce a research paper on their findings, which will be presented in the seminar. The research topic for applicants to the 2010 program is community foundations. A limited number of fellowships for research on diaspora or corporate philanthropy may also be available.

The program is open to practitioners and researchers under the age of 36 who are citizens of countries other than the United States. Applicants must hold a college or university degree and speak and write English fluently.

Each fellowship award covers the cost of tuition. The Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society will also provide accommodations, round-trip air travel to and from New York City, and a stipend to help cover research and living expenses.

Uhaba wa madaktari bingwa Tz wasababisha ulemavu

Mi kwa kweli nashangaa sana, sijui vipaumbele vya Tanzania vipo wapi kwa kweli. Kwenye elimu hola, kwenye kilimo kapa, kwenye miundombinu mwendo wa ado ado kwenye afya ambayo ndiyo mama wa kila mtu kuweza kufanya shughuli zake ndiko kumedorora, hoi bin taaban! Leo wanalalamika hakuna wataalamu wakati wanaotaka kusoma utaalamu huo hawapewi nafasi, pale Muhimbili ulikuwepo msemo  maarufu kuwa, 'watakunyonya macho' kwa maana kuwa, kujitahidi kufikia ngazi zao, wanakukaba kama 'sungusungu' kuhakikisha jasho linakutoka, mwenyewe utaachia ngazi. Sasa kwa mwendo huo wa kukabana na kutishana na kuogopeshana, mtu  mzima anauwezea wapi? Wanaogopa nafasi zao kunyemelewa... sasa haya ndiyo matokeo yake.

TANZANIA inakabiliwa na uhaba wa madaktari bingwa wa mishipa ya fahamu hali inayosababisha baadhi ya wagonjwa kukosa huduma za upasuaji kwa wakati na wengine kupata ulemavu. Hayo yalisemwa mwishoni mwa wiki na Ofisa Uhusiano wa Taasisi ya Tiba ya Mifupa (MOI), Almas Jumaa wakati alipozungumza na 'HabariLeo'.

Alisema madaktari hao hivi sasa wapo watatu wanaotoa huduma nchi nzima hali inayosababisha baadhi ya wagonjwa wanaopata matatizo hayo kukosa huduma kwa wakati na wengine kusafiri umbali mrefu kumwona daktari ili waweze kupewa huduma.

Aliiomba serikali kuhamasisha zaidi watu mbalimbali waliofuzu masomo ya sayansi kusoma kozi za aina tofauti ili waweze kuwasaidia wagonjwa wanaokumbana na matatizo hayo.

Alisema asilimia 70 ya wagonjwa wanaopokelewa Moi wanatokana na ajali, kuvunjika mifupa, magonjwa ya kichwa mishipa ya fahamu na asilimia 30 wanatokana na magonjwa ya kuzaliwa, kujaa miguu kwenye visigino na magonjwa yanayowapata watu wenye umri mkubwa.

Alisema hospitali hiyo pamoja na hospitali zote nchini zinakabiliwa na ukosefu wa vifaa vya kutolea huduma za upasuaji na viungo bandia hali inayosababisha baadhi ya wagonjwa kuwatupia lawama watoa huduma wakati vifaa muhimu havifiki kwa wakati.

Hata hivyo aliwasihi wagonjwa mbalimbali wanaofika Moi kupata huduma hususan ya viungo bandia kuwa wavumilivu mara wanapoambiwa vifaa hivyo havipo kwani wakati mwingine vinachelewa kufika hospitalini hapo kwa sababu ya usafiri kutoka nje ya nchi.

Clean Energy Scholarships


NRF (Clean Energy) Company Scholarships

Objectives

This scheme allows for CEPO and companies to jointly fund local scholarships for Clean Energy Research and Coursework Masters and PhDs. The scheme will help to ensure an adequate supply of CE trained postgraduates for companies as they expand their businesses.

Eligibility Criteria for Companies
Companies to be considered for this programme should be key companies that have a reputation for, or that can demonstrate, professional personnel management to ensure that the scholars are gainfully employed. The companies should preferably be well-established and have a sizeable operation in Singapore or are considering new investments / projects in Singapore.

Branding
Joint NRF (Clean Energy) Company Scholarships, would be branded as the NRF (Clean Energy)-(“company name”) Scholarships.

Bond
The scholars would be bonded to work at the participating company either at the company’s local operations (for foreign/local companies) and/or overseas operations (for Singapore companies) upon graduation. The bond period would be 2 years for local Masters and 3 years for local PhDs.

    PhD Position in Nanoelectronics - Switzerland

    Several PhD student positions are available at the Laboratory of Nanoscale Electronics and Structures at EPFL (Lausanne, Switzerland) headed by Prof. Andras Kis.
    Description :
    Highly motivated students will have an opportunity to work on projects related to mesoscopic transport, fabrication, processing and characterization of novel nanoelectronic devices as well as nanomaterial growth.

    The group employs AFM, transport measurements in a cryostat with a magnet and related techniques for measurements on nanoscale structures we fabricate in the EPFL class 100 cleanroom.

    Requirements :
    · A Master's degree in physics, electrical engineering or materials science
    · Proficiency in spoken and written English is also required
    · Previous experience in cleanroom processing, electron microscopy, scanning probe microscopy, instrumentation programming or thin film growth is desirable
