- Tap on the icon of the app you want to turn off the notifications (here I used WhatsApp as an example)

- If you want the notification bubble on, but sounds off, then set your phone's sound volume to the lowest level or turn your phone into "vibration" or "silence" mode. Note that this will disable sounds from all apps. This way, you should still be able to see the notifications when you are --for example, concentrating on something important or in a meeting, a class -- but want to know whether you have a message pengine when you quickly glance at your phone's screen.
- If you want to turn off sound from a particular app only, try checking the app's settings and see if there is an option for that.
