The organization is AfID’s newest partner and they are looking for a qualified accountant to support them in Tanzania. Their core work is providing support to children already on the streets, or at risk of ending up on the streets. They run a rescue shelter, outreach and reintegration center, have a specific programme focusing on girls at risk, and have programmes raising awareness about child protection.
You will be the first volunteer on assignment and your role would be akin to conducting an internal audit. You will need to gain an understanding of the organisation and its structure, assessing its existing financial procedures and controls, and making recommendations / implementing changes that you deem necessary.
Additionally, our partner is undergoing a strategic review, and in addition to strengthening accounting systems, they would benefit from support around budgeting and cash flow forecasting.
As the first volunteer, one of your key responsibilities will be to determine in what scope AfID continues to work with the partner organisation, and create a terms of reference for a second volunteer to follow on from your placement. It will require some flexibility and sensitivity on your part as your assignment will introduce AfID’s programme to the partner and will provide us with accurate financial information about them.
Our partner would ideally like someone to support them in April/May for 3-4 Weeks.
