Pres. Kikwete to launch new private equity fund

President Jakaya Kikwete is expected to officiate a conference on investing in Africa’s future and the role of the private sector in Dar es Salaam this Tuesday.

The conference, jointly organised by Mkoba Private Equity Fund, which the President will officially launch at the conference, and UONGOZI Institute, aims to highlight the challenges and opportunities of investing in Africa, and the role that business and entrepreneurs can play to deliver on Africa’s promise.

[video] Elephant rescued after poison dart attack

A 4-ton African elephant was left to slowly rot from the inside after cruel poachers shot it with a poisoned arrow.

After being safely tranquillised, the medical team from the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and Kenyan Wildlife Service cut open a huge abscess on the elephant's side, before removing dead muscle tissue and extracting the arrow. The vets then cleaned and packed the wound with green clay, a substance believed to have strong antibacterial properties.

Awakening from the anaesthetic, the elephant rose from its slumber, fit enough to return to the herd.

Job opportunities for Tutorial Assistants at SUA

The Management of Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) invites qualified Tanzanians to apply for positions of Tutorial Assistants (TA’s) (<35 yrs of age) and Assistant Lecturers (<45 years). 

Applicants are advised to note that the minimum GPA of 3.8 or an average of B for unclassified degrees such as that of Veterinary and Medical graduates at undergraduate level applies for TA’s and 3.5 at BSc/BA level or equivalent (i.e. an average of B for Veterinary and Medical graduates) and a good Masters degree is applicable for those with postgraduate qualifications. 

Only registered Veterinarians will be considered for interviews.

NEC, ZEC embark on comprehensive capacity building
Bagamoyo, Monday 28 April 2014: Twenty (20) senior staff from the National Electoral Commission (NEC) and the Zanzibar Electoral Commission (ZEC) will undergo a two-week train-the-facilitator programme based on the internationally renowned BRIDGE at the Oceanic Bay hotel in Bagamoyo. The training is expected to usher the two electoral management bodies (EMBs) in a new era of improved professional conduct of elections through the use of own staff to conduct BRIDGE or any other electronic training for both short term and long term professional development.
