Wananchi wacharuka na kuzuia uhamisho wa Mwl. Mkuu anayetuhumiwa ubadhirifu

Mapitio ya magazeti katika Tv mbalimbali Machi 27, 2015

Ulikuwa unavusha nini?

Jamaa na pikipiki yake kafika mpakani anataka kuvuka kwenda nchi jirani, huku akiwa amepakia viroba viwili kwenye pikipiki.

Afisa Forodha: Umebeba nini?

Jamaa: Mchanga.

Jamaa: Nilikuwa navusha pikipiki.

Look elegant & smart in suit by matching width of a tie; Here is how

Instead of thinking about tie width by itself, its something you should consider in conjunction with your lapel width.

It’s about proportions. Choosing your tie width, much like choosing the other aspects of your suit, should factor in its surroundings–your chest and shoulder size, the fit of your suit, shirt collar width, lapel width and your face shape.

Here’s a simple rule that’s easy to remember: Match the widest point of your tie to the widest point of your suit lapel.

It’s not an exact science and you can go up or down (mismatch the width) by about 0.25″ either direction, but this rule of thumb will help you achieve a more balanced look. Just don’t start looking for suits with 1.00″ lapels to match your uber-skinny tie.

Call for Tanzanians to apply for Fulbright Junior Staff Development (JSD) Program

*** Application cycle 2016 - 2017 ***

The Public Affairs Section of the United States Embassy in Dar es Salaam is seeking qualified candidates for the Fulbright Junior Staff Development (JSD) Program. Online applications are now available starting February 5, 2015. Deadline for submitting applications will be no later than May 1, 2015. Only successful candidates will be called for interviews scheduled for mid-May, 2015.

The Fulbright Junior Staff Development (JSD) Program is the largest Fulbright program with Africa and provides financial assistance for a maximum of two years of study toward a graduate degree in a U.S. university or for participation in a non-degree research or nonacademic professional program. It is designed primarily to strengthen African universities through higher degree training for faculty members. Applications are also accepted from prospective candidates in public and private educational and cultural institutions, independent research institutes, and professional institutions.

The JSD program is open to any qualified candidate but strongly encourages the inclusion of female candidates and prefers candidates who have not had extensive recent experience in the United States. Recent (within three years) recipients of Fulbright grants are not eligible to apply, and it should be emphasized that funding is for a maximum period of two years only. It is important to note that doctoral degree candidates will typically need to secure additional funding to complete their course of study and we now prioritize the selection of Fulbright Master’s candidates over Ph.D. candidates.

Eligibility Requirements

  1. Applicants must be citizens of Tanzania or permanent residents qualified to hold a valid passport issued by Tanzania.
  2. Applicants must have a record of outstanding academic achievement and preparation in their chosen field of study. They must show high motivation and serious commitment to completing the program and to returning home.
  3. Applicants should either be candidates for an advanced degree in their current field or for a specialized non-degree program in a field for which they are well prepared. Applicants who wish to pursue study in a field other than their current field of study must demonstrate adequate background in that field.
  4. Applicants must be affiliated with or committed to working at an academic institution or public or private institutions in Tanzania upon return, and should have the endorsement of their home institution.
  5. Applicants should have a high motivation and a serious commitment to completing the program as scheduled and to returning home.
  6. Applicants with no extensive or recent U.S. experience will be given preference.
  7. Applicants must have a sufficiently high level of English proficiency to enable them to complete a full-time program of graduate study in the United States.

In Tanzania, the Fulbright Junior Staff Development Program is administered by the U.S. Embassy's Public Affairs Section, which nominates candidates to the Fulbright Scholarship Board in Washington, DC. The Fulbright Scholarship Board makes the final selection of candidates. In order for the Embassy to complete the nomination process before the deadline date for submission, we urge aspiring candidates to submit their applications to the Embassy by May 1, 2015; applications received after this date will not be considered.

All application forms must be prepared electronically, on-line application is preferred: hand-written applications will not be accepted. Candidates must submit completed application forms, academic transcripts, and three confidential letters of reference online. Please note that only those short-listed for final consideration will be called for a panel interview. Only finalists will be required to submit their medical history, supplemental forms and complete standardized English and Graduate Record Exam tests.

Call for Tanzanians to apply for Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant

*** Application cycle 2016 - 2017 is now open ***

The Public Affairs Section of the United States Embassy in Dar es Salaam is seeking qualified candidates for the Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) program. Online applications are now available starting March 25, 2015. Deadline for submitting applications will be no later than May 1, 2015. Only successful candidates will be called for interviews scheduled for mid-May, 2015.

The Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program is funded by the U.S. Department of State. Teaching Assistants are vetted through the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. The program aims to strengthen U.S. foreign language instruction and promote mutual understanding by establishing a foreign language native speaker expertise on U.S. campuses. The program enables the teaching assistants to complete their home country pre-service training by engaging in non-degree studies at accredited post-secondary U.S. educational institutions while teaching one or two language courses. Additionally they serve as resource persons in conversation groups, cultural representatives, attendants in language laboratories, coordinators of extracurricular activities or supervisors of clubs and language houses. Selected teaching assistants will enjoy Fulbright status in the United Status. They are expected to teach their language/culture for up to 20 hours per week while taking two courses per semester. All FLTA's receive room and board, a monthly stipend, and tuition waiver for the required coursework, in addition to Fulbright immigration services. The Fulbright grant is for one academic year and is non-renewable.

The Institute of International Education (IIE) on behalf of Department of State, USA, would like to place several language teaching assistants at universities and colleges in the US as part of a strategic language initiative.

Kiswahili is one of the targeted languages.

These teaching assistants would be Fulbright Scholars and are expected to teach their language/culture for up to 20 hours per week while taking two courses per semester. The grant is for one academic year and is non-renewable. The program is designed to have native language and cultural informants who are close in age to undergraduate students in the USA. Normally, FLTAs would teach:
  • beginning level or conversation courses
  • work in a language lab
  • animate a language table
  • organize cultural activities or have similar duties

Each institution assigns duties that will best meet the needs of their school's unique circumstances.

Fulbright will pay for travel, health insurance and monthly maintenance of the selected candidates. Institutions where the FLTAs are placed provide tuition scholarships for the required coursework. The selection process for Tanzania is facilitated through the American Embassy in Dar es Salaam.

Applicants must be teachers of English or in training to become teachers of English, and at minimum must possess the equivalent of a U.S. Bachelor's degree by June 1, 2016 to allow time to submit an official transcript prior to the start of the Fulbright FLTA Program and who are willing to travel without their dependants for one academic year.

This is an excellent opportunity for young teachers in Tanzania. To apply, please refer to the requirements listed here, and if you qualify, apply through online application process.
