A South Carolina mother is facing homicide charges after police say she placed her newborn son in a refrigerator, killing him.
Angela Blackwell, 27, was arrested by authorities in Chester County this week. She's been charged with murder/homicide by child abuse in the death of her 4-day-old son, William David Blackwell.
According to the Chester County coroner, William died from hypothermia with asphyxiation after being placed in the fridge.
The incident happened back in February, but Blackwell wasn't arrested until Monday, reports the Herald Online.
The boy was in the refrigerator for three hours, during which Blackwell never sought any medical attention for the boy, according to an arrest affidavit
Deputies responded to a hospital February 27 after William was brought in by ambulance unresponsive. The baby was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Blackwell and her partner have another son who's 3 year old. The boy was taken by child services following his little brother's death.
A judge on Monday denied Blackwell bond. It is not clear if she had retained an attorney.
If convicted, Blackwell faces 20 years to life in prison, according to Jailtracker.com.
