Facebook and WhatsApp announced a new data sharing plan that they say will improve targeted advertising and friend suggestions. While they aren’t sharing any private data, it’s still a little off-putting, especially if you’re not a fan of targeted ads.
If yo'd like to opt out, you can choose one of the two options below:
Option A
Pay attention. When you launch WhatsApp, you’ll see an updated Terms of Service. At the bottom of the screen, there’s a checkbox. Uncheck the box, then tap Agree, and your data will not be shared.
Option B

Option B
If you already blindly went through and didn’t pay attention to that box in Option A described above, you have 30-day grace period to opt out of shatting. Do this:
- Launch WhatsApp and tap Settings.
- Tap Account.
- Uncheck the box marked “Share my account info.”
