We are now embarking on an exciting new programme of work funded by USAID working with PACT and other consortium partners called C2EYP – Caring for Children and Empowering Young People program.
This programme focuses on OVC (orphans and vulnerable children) care and support, HIV services, violence prevention and response, early childhood and adolescent development, education, child labourOut, and children living and working in the streets, community strengthening, and operational research for policy and planning.
The team, in partnership with high performing local civil society organizations (CSOs), will scale up core interventions to save lives and prevent new infections, ensuring that children and youth survive and thrive through sustainable improvements in the health and social well-being of one million orphans and vulnerable children and their families.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Job title: Youth Officer x 2 - C2EYP Programme
Location: 1 x Dar es Salaam & 1 x Mbeya
Salary: TSH 10,932,562 (Dar es Salaam) & TSH 9,294,568 (Mbeya) gross per annum
Preferred start date: As soon possible
Length of contract: 1 year contract with possibility of extension based on performance
Reports to: Assistant Programme Coordinator
Direct reports: Field Project Team
Expected travel: You will be expected to travel in-country on a regular basis
KEY PRIORITIES
Main responsibilities
Provide welfare support to volunteers and utilise distance and matrix management techniques to ensure the project team is working closely together
Prepare monthly narrative, data base reports and also collection of case studies
Maintain oversight of the activity budgets and expenditure, in line with Restless Development’s policies and in accordance with the grant contract working closely with the finance team
Strategy & Direction
Working closely with Assistant Programme Coordinators, support CSOs to engage with young people
Maintain visibility of the project objectives and Restless Development Programme Quality & Programme Direction
Support community peer educator volunteers to implement, monitor and review project activities across all locations on a monthly basis
Ensure compilation of programme quality data reporting including submission of the monthly reports to the programme quality team to ensure accountability for standards is supported at the highest levels
Provide technical support and capacity building to community peer educator volunteers on the project areas
People & Performance
Carry out regular performance and welfare support for community peer educator volunteers in line Restless Development’s volunteer policy
Lead in assessing and developing periodic capacity building plans for community peer educator volunteers to enhance performance within your team
Oversee development of monthly volunteer welfare reports
Financial Management
Uphold all financial policies and procedures for the C2EYP Project and Restless Development Tanzania, and proactively prevent risks within the project which could jeopardise our Values, Policies, Codes of Conduct and Donor Compliance Rules
Ensure that all requisitions and retirements are appropriately requested for; and that all expenditure is backed up by the required support documentation
Ensure that value for money is obtained in all purchases through the team, and that all purchases are in line with our policies and procedures
Other
Other duties as required.
You will regularly be required to work on weekends and/or public holidays, for which time off in lieu will be granted
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
Experience with young people from vulnerable settings
Technical expertise in community development approaches specifically in livelihood and sexual reproductive health
Ability to plan and deliver training and onsite capacity building
A clear understanding of contemporary development issues particularly of youth participation, decision-making, governance structures, political events and opportunities
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills suitable for both youth and high level government audiences
Fluent in English and Kiswahili
Good ICT skills including Word, Excel, email/internet, PowerPoint
A strong personal commitment to the values of Restless Development and the role of young people in development
