Kadulyu: Wanaume tulofikisha miaka 40 tupime tezi dume, tuache kujazana ujinga!

1. PSA blood test (nimeshafanya kipimo hiki ikiambatana Na cha ultrasound)

Maelezo kutoka UK Cancer research test ni Haya:

PSA is a protein produced by both normal and cancerous prostate cells. A high level of PSA can be a sign of cancer. But your PSA level can also be raised in prostate conditions that are not cancer (are benign) or if you have an infection. To check for PSA (prostate specific antigen), your doctor takes a sample of your blood. Your doctor may want to rule out a urine infection before carrying out a test. If you’ve had a urine infection, you shouldn’t have a PSA test for at least a month after your treatment finishes.

PSA is usually measured in nanograms per millilitre of blood (ng/ml). There is no one PSA reading that is considered normal. The reading varies from man to man and the normal level increases as you get older. But the following values are a rough guide
3 ng/ml or less is considered to be in the normal range for a man under 60 years old
4 ng/ml or less is normal for a man aged 60 to 69
5 ng/ml or less is normal if you are aged over 70.

A reading higher than these values but less than 10 ng/ml is usually due to a non cancerous (benign) enlargement of the prostate gland. A reading higher than 10 ng/ml may also be caused by benign prostate disease, but the higher the level of PSA, the more likely it is to be cancer. Sometimes a cancer may be diagnosed in a man with a PSA reading within the normal range. But usually, the higher the reading, the more likely it is to be cancer.

Some men have PSA levels in the hundreds (or even thousands) when they are diagnosed. The higher the level of PSA at diagnosis, the more likely the cancer is to spread quickly.
PSA blood tests are also used to monitor how well prostate cancer treatment works or to decide whether you need treatment. If your PSA is stable, it is a sign that a cancer is not growing or spreading. Successful treatment shrinks cancer and so the PSA level in the blood then falls.

2. Rectal examination (nadhani ndo wanaume tunachokiogopa)

Maelezo yake kutoka chanzo kilekile Ni Haya:

Your doctor puts a gloved finger into your back passage (rectum) to feel your prostate gland and check for abnormal signs, such as a lumpy, hard prostate. Doctors call this test a digital rectal examination (DRE).

Mchoro unaonyesha tezi dume ilipo nimeambatanisha.

You may have a rectal ultrasound scan to examine the prostate gland. It is called a trans rectal ultrasound (TRUS). You will need to make sure you have had a bowel movement beforehand so that your rectum is empty when you go for your appointment.

Your doctor puts a small ultrasound device into your back passage. It produces sound waves to create a clear picture of the prostate gland. This test is uncomfortable, but shouldn’t hurt. It does not take long.

Goodbye LAND ROVER DEFENDER

After a stream of announcements, commemorations, and special-edition models, the last Land Rover Defender rolled off the assembly line in Solihull, England. It represents an unbroken line that goes back 68 years, to Land Rover’s first production model.

To see the Defender off in style, Land Rover gathered 700 current and former employees of the Solihull plant, plus a contingent of historically significant vehicles. To add to the sense of nostalgia, the last vehicle built was a Defender 90 Heritage soft top, with styling cues from older Land Rover models. That car will go straight to Jaguar Land Rover’s own collection.

That vehicle can trace its lineage straight back to the first Series I Land Rover of 1948. Created by brothers Spencer and Maurice Wilks, the Land Rover was originally intended primarily for agricultural use, much like the military Jeeps being repurposed for civilian use at the time. Farmers weren’t the only ones who were interested and the rest, as they say, is history.

Land Rover continually upgraded its off-roader, which eventually evolved into Series II and Series III variants. The Defender name was added in 1990 to highlight another major overhaul, and to acknowledge that Land Rover was no longer a single-model brand. With the Range Rover and Discovery, Land Rover was headed into the more luxurious territory it occupies today.

As Land Rover design shifted to appeal more to suburban soccer moms than soldiers or explorers, car enthusiasts rallied around the Defender because of its authenticity, simplicity, and the way it exemplified Land Rover’s old values. It hasn’t been sold in the U.S. in years, but the Defender is still popular here. Whenever one drives by, heads turn.

Land Rover has been promising a new Defender for years. The new model may also be very different from its admittedly antiquated predecessor.

USA, EU Statement on Announcement of Election Re-Run in Zanzibar

January 29, 2016

The High Commissioners and Ambassadors to Tanzania of Belgium, Canada, Denmark, the European Union, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States, today issued the following statement regarding the recent announcement of an election re-run in Zanzibar:

“We reiterate our concern with the Zanzibar Electoral Commission’s decision to annul the election of October 25, 2015, without having provided evidence to substantiate its claim that irregularities had taken place, and despite the positive assessments of electoral observation missions conducted by the Commonwealth Secretariat, the African Union, the Southern African Development Community, the East African Community, the European Union, and the United States of America.

“We regret that an election re-run was announced, while a dialogue between parties was still ongoing. For the benefit of all Tanzanians, we reaffirm our belief that the current political impasse in Zanzibar would be best addressed through a mutually acceptable and negotiated solution.

“We are deeply concerned that the unilateral declaration of a re-run may lead to an escalation of intimidation and tensions. We commend the population of Zanzibar for having exercised calm and restraint to this date, and call on all parties and their supporters to continue to work together towards finding a peaceful solution.

“In order to be credible, electoral processes must be inclusive and representative. Under the current circumstances, the provision of international electoral observation would be difficult to consider.

“We urge President Magufuli to exercise leadership in this political impasse, and to pursue his previous calls for a negotiated solution between parties, so as to ensure a peaceful outcome, but also one that ensures the integrity of the electoral process.
