Job: Chief Technical Adviser - Senior Expert in Forestry

Job Description

FCG Sweden is looking for an International Senior Expert in forestry, natural resources management or similar.

Preliminary scope of work

  • Co-Lead the Programme Management Team (together with National Programme Coordinator).
  • Over-see operations ensuring that Programme resources are managed within the stipulated procedures.
  • Planning, monitoring and reporting of activities, achievements and expenditure.
  • Support in managing office equipment and resources.
  • Coordinate timely preparation and submission of work plans and budgets and present the same for approval to the relevant authorities.
  • Prepare TORs for consultancies and/or studies, participate in evaluation of proposals and supervise contracts.
  • Assess potential service providers, develop service delivery models, select service providers as well as develop contractual arrangements.
  • Supervise the international and national Technical Assistance staff.
  • Guide and supervise delivery of services.
  • Ensure that cross-cutting themes (e.g. gender equality, participation and Human Rights) are mainstreamed throughout the Programme.
  • Close coordination and cooperation with key partners and stakeholders.

General qualifications required

  • At least MSc in forest management, forest economics, natural resources management or other relevant discipline. Fluency in both spoken and written English.

Professional experience

  • experience in Team Leading and Project management position
  • experience in coaching and participatory capacity building of forestry or other administrations
  • policy advocacy skills (especially forestry and natural resources policies) and consultative processes
  • working with private sector development, forest business development (value chain development) and in collaboration with the civil society
  • service provision models and outsourcing
  • community-based natural resources management, in particular in forestry
  • inclusive development and gender approaches
  • strong experience in Sustainable Forest Management and Value Chain Development
  • at least 10 years working experience

Preliminary duration: 4 years (start 4/2018)
