IMD Scholarship Foundation announces a new IMD MBA Scholarship

The IMD Scholarship Foundation is pleased to announce a new IMD MBA scholarship that will be awarded to support an individual coming from an emerging country and who works either as a social entrepreneur or for an NGO. The aim of the scholarship is to increase the class diversity and learning experience and to support a participant who otherwise would not be able to attend the IMD MBA program.

"This is a unique opportunity for an individual who otherwise might not be able to attend the IMD MBA program," stated the Selection Committee. "This person will truly bring a different perspective to the class. We believe it will also make a difference when the candidate returns to his or her home country to apply the learnings gleaned from the IMD experience."

The Selection Committee is looking for qualified candidates from emerging countries who have a passion to make a contribution to society through socially responsible leadership. Specifically, a candidate must have financial need, meet the admission requirements of the program and have the following attributes:
- currently work as a social entrepreneur or for an NGO in his or her home country or region with 4-10 years work experience
- made a significant contribution to the local environment, country or society in general
- possess leadership characteristics and the ability to have a significant impact in a class situation
- demonstrate passion and a commitment for socially responsible leadership and a desire to return to his or her home country or region after IMD.

The target countries for this scholarship include (but are not limited to) Africa, Latin America, China and India. The IMD Scholarship Foundation will provide for living expenses and IMD will contribute Sfr 45,000 toward tuition. The selected candidate must contribute the additional tuition through savings or a loan.

The U.S. Embassy in Dar es Salaam is seeking an individual for the position of Community Liaison Assistant in the Management Office.

The incumbent assists the Community Liaison Officer (CLO) in developing and maintaining key contacts and managing information that benefit the morale and welfare of the entire mission and serves as the main point of contact for all CLO-organized activities within the Embassy, around the country and throughout the region. Skills and Abilities: S/he must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently with employees from all segments of the mission. The position requires daily contact with all levels of employees. AAOS International Surgical Skills Scholarship Program

Program Overview
The AAOS International Surgical Skills Scholarship Program is intended to provide US surgical skills access to deserving orthopaedic surgeons from diverse regions of the world. Four to six scholarships are awarded each year to eligible orthopaedists with the intended purpose to travel to the United States to attend an AAOS Orthopaedic Learning Center (OLC) hands-on surgical skills course. Each recipient selects a 2- to 2.5-day course offered by AAOS. As part of the scholarship program experience, scholars are offered one- or two-day hospital and private practice visits designed to further enhance their overall scholarship program experiences in the United States. The entire scholarship experience will take between six to seven days.

Serikali Tanzania yawasikiliiza Maaskofu kuhusu msamaha wa kodi

Serikali imebatilisha uamuzi wake wa kufuta msamaha wa Kodi ya Ongezeko la Thamani (VAT) kwa taasisi za dini na mashirika yasiyokuwa ya kiserikali (NGOs) na kuunda Timu Maalum itakayofutilia mianya ya matumizi mabaya ya msamaha huo.

Kutokana na uamuzi huo, Serikali italazimika kurekebisha vipengele kadhaa kwenye bajeti ya sh. bilioni 9.5 iliyosomwa wiki iliyopita bungeni na Waziri wa Fedha na Uchumi, Bw. Mustafa Mkulo na kuweka vipya kwa baadhi ya maeneo ili kukidhi marekebisho hayo.

Hatua hiyo imeelezwa kuwa itasaidia wabunge kupitisha bajeti hiyo kwa urahisi na kupunguza maswali magumu kwa Serikali leo jioni, wakati Bw. Mkulo atakapotoa majumuisho ya michango ya wabunge.

Akizungumza jana na waandishi wa habari nyumbani kwake mjini hapa, Waziri Mkuu, Bw. Mizengo Pinda, alisema baada ya Serikali kusikia kilio cha wabunge na taasisi za dini, alikukutana na viongozi dini juzi na kukubaliana kwamba ni umuhimu wa kuendeleza msamaha huo kwa sasa huku wakimwahidi kushirikiana na Serikali kudhibiti matumizi mabaya ya misamaha hiyo.

Alipoombwa kueleza ni kwa jinsi gani Serikali itaziba mianya ya fedha ambazo zingetokana na kufutwa misamaha hiyo hasa kwa kuzingatia kuwa fedha hizo ziliingizwa katika bajeti ya trilioni 9.5 alisema;

"Tayari nimemwagiza Waziri wa Fedha kufanya kazi hiyo na leo, alinihakikishia kwamba tayari ameshafanya kazi hiyo sasa mimi siwezi kumsemea ataeleza mwenyewe,"alisema.

Alipotakiwa kueleza hatua zitakazochukuliwa dhidi ya watuhumiwa waliobainika kutumia mwanya wa msamaha vibaya kama alivyoainisha Bw. Mkulo alipozungumza na waandishi wa habari Jumamosi iliyopita alisema;

"Bahati nzuri Viongozi wenyewe wa dini waliniomba hayo majina ili wao kwanza waanze kuwashughulikia, pia katika timu hiyo tutakayounda itawajumuisha naamini hili litashughulikiwa vizuri tu na kuziba mwanya huo.

Kuhusu muda na muunda kamili ya timu hiyo, alisema kazi hiyo itakuwa ya kwanza kwa Waziri wa Fedha na Uchumi, Bw. Mkulo kwa kushirikina na Kamishna Mkuu wa TRA na kwamba ana uhakika ndani ya miezi miwili hadi mitatu itakuwa imekamilika.

Kuhusu swali la DECI Waziri Mkuu, alisema yeye alipitia ripoti hiyo na kumwagiza Bw. Mkulo kuitoa kwa wana habari. Kutokana na agizo hilo Waziri Mkulo aliahidi kutoa taarifa hiyo leo asubuhi kwa waandishi wa habari Ofisini kwake.

Community Action and REALTOR Excellence Award

This award is given to Local Associations recognizing achievements in community service and charitable actions. The award is designed to raise the profile of REALTORS and the REALTOR organization by focusing on Associations that have demonstrated an extraordinary record through direct local Association community service involvement and to include endeavors by REALTOR members who are part of a group, team, office or individually. The award will be presented to an Association as a First Place and a 1st and 2nd Place Recognition (Recognition categories are awarded at the discretion of the CARE Committee.) Should applications for other awards be submitted directly for a state sponsored award, MAR will forward copies of the applications to the local Associations for consideration to include as a part of the criteria for the CARE award.
Each local Association must submit a top page (electronically) with total aggregate data from the compilation of all the charitable and civic activities for that local, groups, teams, and individuals to include: Name of Local Association; List of organizations by name, estimated total dollars raised, total number of volunteers, total hours contributed, and individuals / families served (broken down).


The local Associations who receive awards will choose up to five (5) charities and designate the percentage of the cash award to each. Local Association foundations are not eligible to receive all or a portion of the award. Awardees will be recognized and honored at the Installation Banquet at MAR Annual Conference. The monetary awards are: First Place $10,000; 1st Place Recognition: $5,000 and 2nd Place Recognition: $1,000. Press releases and other recognition will be distributed as appropriate. This award will not be given to an individual. The deadline for submission of the charity selection and percentages of winning funds are due no later than October 31, 2009.

The award(s) selection will be judged by a panel of REALTORS® from across the state who have demonstrated records of extraordinary community involvement. They have developed CRITERIA GUIDELINES that include length of involvement in activities; participation of members, funds/donations raised impact of activities. The following scholarships are open to application for those who are admitted to the Masters in Political Science and International Relations. Those who wish to apply for a scholarship should submit the scholarship application at the same time as submitting the main admission application.

Minimum Requirements
  • The minimum requirements for all applicants to the graduate PSIR programme are:
  • Award of a recognised first BA/BS/BSc degree, or equivalent.
  • A minimum CGPA score of 2.5 (or equivalent)
Additional Requirements
In addition, depending on the origin or educational background of certain applicants, some or all of the following requirements will be requested:
  • To undertake this Masters programme students must have a thorough command of written and spoken English. If the applicant’s first language is not English s/he must obtain or provide evidence of one of the following recognised English Language qualifications:
  1. IELTS (International English Language Testing System) : the usual requirement is a score of 7 in each section the usual requirement is an overall minimum score of 6.
  2. TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) : the usual requirements are an overall minimum score of 550 (paper-based test) plus 4.5 in the TWE (Test of Written English) or 213 (computer based TOEFL test) or 79 (internet TOEFL + TWE 4.5).
  3. If applicants do not achieve one of the above scores they may be encouraged to send in their certificate anyway because in such cases the University may recommend that the applicant re-take the test or that s/he attend pre-sessional English courses provided by the University.
  4. Or a minimum METU proficiency exam score of 65.
  5. Applicants who have studied for at least 12 months at an institution of higher education either in the UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, Australia or New Zealand will not need an English Language certificate. If an applicant has been educated entirely in English then s/he may provide written evidence of this in the application.
  • Applicants who are citizens of Turkey will be required to take the ALES graduate entry exam and meet a minimum score of ALES 55.

The AUN/SEED-Net Project with support from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) provides scholarships for prospective applicants from AUN-SEED/Net Member Institutions to pursue doctoral degrees in engineering at one of the following Japanese Supporting Universities: Hokkaido University, Keio University, Kyoto University, Kyushu University, Tokai University, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Toyohashi University of Technology, University of Tokyo, Shibaura Institute of Technology, and Waseda University.

The fields of study that can be supported by the AUN/SEED-Net are as follows: Civil Engineering (CE), Chemical Engineering (ChE), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), Environmental Engineering (EnvE), Geological Engineering (GeoE), Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Manufacturing Engineering (ManuE), Materials Engineering (MatE), and Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering (ME/AE).

Even distribution across nine fields may also be considered.

In particular the research will explore new knowledge based system methods for the capture, maintenance and re-use of manufacturing knowledge, especially during product design.

The effective use of computer based tools to support decision making in manufacturing industry is critical to business success. One of the most critical areas of decision making in manufacturing industry is during product design and especially in design for manufacture. This research will contribute to the understanding of how manufacturing knowledge can be effectively linked to product design function requirements in the context of commoditised design approaches The work will use modern product lifecycle management tools in combination with a knowledge based environment in order to explore the effectiveness of the methods under investigation.

The studentship is available from this summer and would suit candidates of high academic ability with a background related to manufacturing and/or computer science. Ideally candidates will be available to take up the studentship by October 2009 at the latest. The studentship will cover three years of fees and provide a bursary currently valued at £12,940 per year.
