The Female Science Talents Intensive Track goes into its third round! For the year 2024, we are looking for 20 exceptionally talented women in science from all disciplines to take part in our one-year intensive programme.

BENEFITS OF THE INTENSIVE TRACK
  • The Intensive Track programme provides selected candidates with multiple opportunities:Participate in two high-level landmark events in Berlin: the International Spring Gathering & International Fall Gathering as part of the Falling Walls Science Summit 2024, including travel scholarships for both events;
  • Take part in a series of online and in-person skill-enhancement workshops on topics such as leadership, business building, grant applications and more;
  • Peer exchange with fellow international young talents from all disciplines;

African Peacebuilding Network: Collaborative Working Group Research Fellowships

The African Peacebuilding Network (APN) of the Social Science Research Council (SSRC) invites applications from senior African academics and researchers based at universities, training, and policy institutions in Africa to assemble and lead collaborative research projects intended to inform policy and practice on conflict and peacebuilding on the continent.

The APN will support the working group in undertaking original policy-relevant research that focuses on the design, implementation, and impact of peacebuilding mechanisms and processes in conflict-affected African countries and sub-regions. Support is available for research, convening of scholar-practitioner meetings and analysis of issues.

Applicants must be scholars or practitioners based in Africa and the lead investigator must be of the rank of a full professor and based in an African university (and hold a PhD).

The Gottlieb Foundation Individual Support Grant

   
Applications for the 2024 Individual Support Grant will open on October 16, 2023. The application deadline for the 2024 grant cycle is January 17, 2024, at 11:59 pm EST.

The Foundation wishes to encourage artists who have dedicated their lives to developing their art, regardless of their level of commercial success.

Please note that these grants are available only to individual painters, sculptors, and printmakers who have worked in a mature phase of art for 20 years or more.

The Gottlieb Foundation does not fund organizations, educational institutions, students, graphic artists, or those working in crafts. The disciplines of photography, film, video, or related forms are not eligible unless the work directly involves, or can be interpreted as, painting or sculpture. The Foundation does not fund exhibitions, installations, or projects of any kind.

Last year, the Foundation awarded grants of $25,000 each to 20 artists.

This program was conceived in order to recognize and support the serious, fully-committed artist, and we hope these individuals will consider applying. 20 grants are awarded each year. Applications are reviewed by a panel of five professionals in the arts who have no affiliation with the Foundation. In this program, the following criteria must be met:
Maturity

Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate that they have been working in a mature phase of their art for at least 20 years. Maturity is based on the level of intellectual, technical, and creative development maintained over this time period. Artists must show that their primary involvement has been with their artistic goals, regardless of other personal or financial responsibilities. Artists must work in the disciplines of painting, sculpture, or printmaking.
Financial Need

In addition to the maturity requirement, eligibility for an Individual Support Grant is determined by the applicant’s current financial need. Each applicant must complete the financial disclosure section in full and must submit the appropriate financial documentation.

Please note that applicants who have previously received an Individual Support Grant from this Foundation three times or more are no longer eligible to apply.

2024 Fellowship: Food Systems

The social, cultural, economic, and environmental dimensions of food systems and transformation at the national level

WWF’s Russell E. Train Education for Nature (EFN) Program invites applications from aspiring and experienced researchers, practitioners, and leaders to pursue graduate-level studies (master’s degree and PhD) geared towards research that cultivates a better understanding of the place-based nature of food systems and transformation. There is substantial evidence at the global scale of the urgent need for food system transformation, but less attention has been paid to how transformations toward more healthy and sustainable food systems might play out at the national level.

The aim of the Food Systems Fellowship is to support outstanding master’s or doctoral students to develop evidence-based, innovative, and interdisciplinary research on food systems at the national level to catalyze the process of generating an improved understanding of the country-specific nature of food systems and transformation. Fellows will also have an opportunity to join the expansive global community of EFN alumni to enable knowledge exchange and collective success.

The fellowship is open to nationals of eligible countries within the WWF-US priority areas: Belize, Brazil, Bhutan, Bolivia, Cambodia, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chile, Colombia, Dem. Republic of Congo, Ecuador, French Guiana, Gabon, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Indonesia, Kenya, Laos, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mozambique, Myanmar, Namibia, Nepal, Paraguay, Peru, Republic of Congo, Suriname, Tanzania, Uganda, Vietnam who already enrolled/are interested in enrolling in a master’s or PhD program. Applicants may apply for up to two years of funding and request up to $30,000 per year. The amount will vary.

To strengthen local capacity in Asia, Africa, and Latin America and Caribbean, WWF’s Russell E. The objective of this competitive fellowship is to advance the development of a critical mass of outstanding and well-trained experts, natural and social scientists, and practitioners who will continue to increase the learning, research, and engagement in conservation science and leadership.

The African Development Bank Group and the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) are jointly implementing a strategic partnership program, the Africa Adaptation Acceleration Program (AAAP), aimed at mobilizing $25 billion to scale up and accelerate climate change adaptation actions across Africa.

Eligibility Criteria
  • Age – The entrepreneur must be between the ages of 18 to 35.
  • Citizenship of founder – The founder must be of African nationality or the founder must be playing an active role in the operations of the enterprise.
  • Geography and legal registration of the company – The business must be legally registered in Africa.
  • Profitability – The business must have generated profits for the last two years.
  • Impact/ Climate adaptation – The business must demonstrate a direct impact on climate adaptation and resilience.
  • Gender Only female-owned enterprises are eligible – 51% of shareholding should be female.
  • Industry – Must be within the fourth industrial revolution (4IR) technologies.

Goethe-Institut Tanzania open call for project proposals

The Goethe-Institut Tanzania is thrilled to announce an open call for project proposals that push the boundaries of immersive art. We are seeking innovative and imaginative ideas that create transformative and multisensory experiences, blurring the lines between art, audience, and environment.

ELIGIBILITY:
  • Open to contemporary cultural practitioners based in Tanzania. All disciplines are welcome.
  • Participation is open to regional or international participants as long as at least one project partner is based in Tanzania.
  • Production funds can be supplemented by sponsors, which should be shared with the Goethe-Institut Tanzania’s programs team.
