ICGEB offers Short-term fellowships for Pre-doctoral studies in ICGEB Component laboratories to fund ongoing collaborative research between scientists from ICGEB Member States and research groups at ICGEB laboratories in Trieste, Italy, New Delhi, India and Cape Town, South Africa, with the aim of facilitating access to the latest research techniques and to strengthen capacity building.

To Apply Applicants should contact the ICGEB Group Leader/PI of their choice with a motivation letter, to determine availability of laboratory space and to define the research project proposal that will form an integral part of the application.

News Corp Media Fellowship for African Journalists

Interested in sharpening your digital skills while working alongside your peers in London? Eager to share your experience with award-winning colleagues abroad? Apply to the News Corp Media Fellowship for a chance to learn how some of the most prestigious news outlets in the world operate.

Working with ICFJ, News Corp will bring two journalists from any country in Africa to London to spend a month honing their journalistic skills at The Times and at The Wall Street Journal London bureau. During the fellowship, participants will have the opportunity to get a 360-degree view of both newsrooms.

To complement the four-week fellowship, ICFJ will design a three-day orientation in London, which will prepare the fellows for their time in the newsrooms. Appointments with key journalists, media experts and technologists will also be part of the program. During the fellowship the selected fellows will have the opportunity to learn how the top London news outlets are navigating the transformations impacting journalism.

English-speaking African journalists, videographers, newsroom editors, bloggers and journalists from all areas of expertise and any country in Africa are welcome to apply. All travel and fellowship expenses are covered by the program.

GCRF Networking Grants

The Academy of Medical Sciences in partnership with the British Academy, the Royal Academy of Engineering, and the Royal Society, is delighted to announce the inaugural call for applications to a new scheme to allow researchers from developing countries and the UK to forge new links and hold networking events to generate innovative and interdisciplinary research ideas to address global challenges. This support will enable these new networks to be better equipped to apply for larger grants offered by the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) programme and other funding initiatives.

Job: Environment Officer - Kibondo, Tanzania

The Environmental Officer will be based in Kibondo and will have responsibility for all three camps, working with partners and stakeholders to ensure environmental impacts are minimised by mainstreaming environmental factors into refugee-hosting activities. The role requires the Environmental Officer to be able to assess the environmental conditions at refugee hosting areas and analyse how, and to what extent, those situations affect the environment and to formulate specific projects for addressing impacts. In addition, the incumbent would be expected to monitor and evaluate the environmental interventions, undertake capacity building activities and report on environmental matters.
