Japan-WCO Human Resource Development Programme - Scholarship

The Programme provides Customs officials from developing countries with an opportunity to pursue Master’s level studies and training in Customs related fields in the Public Finance programme at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) in Tokyo, Japan (source).


  • A monthly stipend covers accommodations, meals, transportations, and other expenses. It cannot be increased to cover family members if any. The amount of stipend is subject to change according to the decision of the Japanese Government.*
  • Admission and tuition fees.**
  • Round-trip economy-class air tickets between your home country and Japan.
*The current amount of monthly stipend is 147,000 yen (as of 2017).
**The current amount of admission fee is 290,000 yen and annual tuition fee is 902,000 yen (as of 2017).


Call: Uncovering Security - Story Lab 2018

The Thomson Reuters Foundation, in partnership with the Stanley Foundation and Gerda Henkel Stiftung, invites applications from journalists to take part in a unique media skills development programme designed to strengthen stories on under-covered security threats and responses across the globe.

The programme will support journalists to collaborate with researchers to uncover emerging threats in specific communities, countries or regions worldwide, and produce stories that reach a wide audience.

East Africa Fellows Program

Regional Fellows Program is a one-year leadership development program designed to build the next generation of social leaders with the audacity to transform society and create a better, more inclusive world.

The program equips 20 extraordinary individuals from across East Africa with the knowledge, support system and practical wisdom to unlock their full potential and drive positive change in society. Over the course of a year, Fellows remain in their jobs while taking part in five week-long seminars, where they receive the tools, training and space to innovate new ideas, accelerate their impact, build a strong network of social leaders from across their region and around the world.

Mobile for Development Utilities Innovation Fund

The M4D Utilities Innovation Fund, supported by the UK Government and USAID Scaling Off-Grid Energy, aims to test and scale the use of mobile to improve or increase access to energy, water and sanitation services.

The Innovation Fund, supported by the UK Government, was launched in June 2013. In two phases of funding, grants have been competitively awarded to 34 organisations across four continents, amounting to 6 million GBP. A catalogue of past and current grantees can be found here.
