“Get it Published” Fellowship Program

The Max Planck Institute for the History of Science, Berlin (MPIWG), DEPARTMENT III, “Artefacts, Action, and Knowledge” (Director: Prof. Dagmar Schäfer), is offering
two fellowships

for outstanding scholars who have submitted or will submit their PhD thesis between September 2017 and August 2018.

The "GET-IT-PUBLISHED" fellowships are open to students whose research topic is related to the History of Science, Technology, and Medicine, or Science and Technology Studies. The scholarship is dedicated to assist young researchers (that is, at the end of their PhD phase or early Post-docs) from Asian, African, or Latin American institutions to work with an international community at the MPIWG, Berlin.

Postgraduate Training Fellowship in Medical Statistics for African Scientists

Two fellowships, funded by the UK Medical Research Council (MRC) and GSK, respectively, provide support for two years training in medical statistics. For the first year the successful applicants will study for the MSc degree in Medical Statistics at the London School of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (LSHTM). This will be followed by a one-year professional attachment at one of the African centres associated with the research programme of the MRC Tropical Epidemiology Group (TEG) at LSHTM. During the professional attachment, training Fellows will develop their statistical and research skills by working on studies with guidance from TEG scientists.

This support is intended to foster excellence in the field of medical statistics and epidemiology in sub-Saharan Africa. The fellowship will provide costs for fees, stipend (£16,400 per annum) and return air travel.

Eni’s Master Management and Economics of Energy and the Environment (MEDEA)

The Master’s course is aimed at young graduates interested in pursuing a career in companies, bodies and organisations in the energy and environmental sector. The MEDEA offers a Business Administration in the Energy Industry programme based on two study options: Global Energy and Managing Technical Assets. The two programmes share a significant part of the teaching input and are divided into three stages of study characterised by growing levels of specialization. The courses usually start in mid-September and run until the end of June. Despite all lessons being conducted in English, for non-Italian students an intensive Italian language during the summer before the course is also foreseen. The organisation of classes and study activities require full-time participation. Students who pass the final examinations are awarded the Master in Management and Economics of Energy and the Environment (MEDEA).
