Needed: Full time instructors for German, Italian, Japanese, Turkish, Greek, Swahili, Russian, Chinese

LEIDOS is looking for full time instructors for the following languages: German, Italian, Japanese, Turkish, Greek, Swahili.
  • Customer has an immediate linguist requirement for foreign language instructors with the required teaching experience and adult learning methodology.
  • Instructors will provide 3-5 hours of instruction daily in courses at ILR 0-3. In addition to teaching, they will undertake tester training to become certified language testers and conduct 3-4 language tests per week, thereafter.
  • The position is responsible for instructing students in speaking a foreign language and understanding the culture of the area or country in order to teach culture through communication.
  • Instructors must be able to develop class materials and training aids to meet customized student needs. ​
  • The contract linguist instructor(s) shall have strong foreign language skills and will work under direction of experienced senior trained instructors.
  • It is also important that candidates are familiar with current events in the countries where the foreign languages are spoken.
  • Once on the program, contract linguist instructors are required to receive specific sponsor training focusing on foreign language teaching and foreign language testing in order to become certified according to Sponsor standards.

Financial Innovations for Women Affected by Migration (FIWAM)

 The Financial Innovations for Women Affected by Migration (FIWAM) program is funded by the Impact-Linked Fund for Gender Inclusive Fintech which provides Impact-Linked Finance and technical assistance to Fintechs to incentivize a stronger focus on gender transformative outcomes for financial inclusion.

Fintech start-ups in the growth stage, to reach investability and scale their impact. Solutions that are -directly or indirectly- financially empowering women affected by migration.

Application Criteria

  • Located in Asia, Middle East and North Africa (MENA), and Sub-Saharan Africa. 
  • Having a for-profit business model.
  • Be in the growth stage.
  • Providing fintech products/services.
  • Interest in understanding, capturing, and positively impacting the migrant community market segment.

TWAS-DFG Cooperation Visits Programme

The TWAS-DFG Cooperation Visits Programme provides postdoctoral researchers from sub-Saharan Africa, including South Africa, with the opportunity to make a three-month ‘Cooperation Visit’ to a research institute in Germany. Such visits must be undertaken within 12 months of the award.

The aim of the visit is to initiate research collaboration between African and German scientists with the ultimate goal of developing longer-term links, perhaps through other Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, or German Research Foundation) programmes. DFG will cover travel expenses and provide subsistence costs for the stay in Germany. The administration and financial operation of TWAS is undertaken by UNESCO in accordance with an agreement signed by the two organizations.
