Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Specialist - Right To Play International

   
The Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Specialist will provide technical leadership and support to guide effective integration and achievement of girls’ empowerment, gender equality and social inclusion results across Right To Play (RTP)’s programming, in alignment with RTP’s strategic plan and organizational commitments. The GESI Specialist will provide technical guidance on GESI standards and approaches; lead GESI related staff professional development and learning through coaching, mentorship and fostering forums for technical exchange; contribute to GESI strategy development, resource mobilization, advocacy, research and learning at a global level. 

The GESI Specialist will champion RTP’s Gender Equality Policy including supporting development of policy related monitoring and accountability. The GESI Specialist reports to the Global Technical Lead, Health and Gender Equality and works closely with a diverse team of program specialists within the Global Program Development (GPD) and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) teams within RTP’s Global Headquarters. The GESI Specialist will work in partnership with Country Office Gender Specialists and Focal Points to ensure that GESI is strengthened across all areas of program design, implementation, evaluation and learning and impactful social inclusion, gender equality and girls’ empowerment objectives and results are achieved. 

The position will include international travel up to 25% per year.

Education Specialist - Right To Play International

   
The Education Specialist reports to the Global Technical Lead, Education and will support the development of education programming, policy, advocacy and research initiatives at the global level. You will lead on the development of the Education in Emergencies (EiE) technical area supporting learning outcomes, while working closely with a diverse team of program specialists within the Program Development and Quality team to ensure quality of programming. 

You will develop and deepen education programmatic thinking and design including resources and technical guidance; provide continuous support to the country teams implementing education programming to enhance program effectiveness; and build capacity in education programming and approaches. You will provide direct support to country level Education Specialists implementing education programs in development contexts and contexts of protracted crisis. 

Up to 25% of time travelling to Right To Play (RTP) program countries is expected.

Child Protection & Psychosocial Support Specialist - Right To Play International

   
The Child Protection & Psychosocial Support (PSS) Specialist will provide technical leadership and support to guide the effective integration and achievement of child protection and psychosocial wellbeing outcomes across Right To Play’s (RTP’s) programs. You will provide technical guidance on child protection and PSS standards and approaches. This position will also be responsible for providing skills building, resource development, coaching and mentorship support, including facilitating a PSS community of practice and encouraging learning and best practice in child protection and PSS amongst teams. You will guide the development of new project models to address the protection and psychosocial support needs of children in diverse contexts. 

Reporting to the Global Director, Program Development, you will work closely with a diverse team of program specialists within the Global Program Development (GPD) and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) teams. You will work in partnership with Country Office based Child Protection Specialists and focal points to ensure that child protection and psychosocial wellbeing programs are developed, implemented, and measured in line with global best practice and learning on what works from the sector. You will also be responsible for ensuring that child protection and psychosocial wellbeing program results are achieved and appropriately measured to further RTP’s thought leadership and advocacy efforts. 

This position will include international travel up to 20% per year.

Global Safeguarding Specialist - Right To Play International

Work Location: One of Right To Play offices (Burundi, Canada, Ethiopia, Ghana, Jordan, Lebanon, Mali, Mozambique, Pakistan, the Palestinian Territories, Rwanda, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda or United Kingdom)

Work Arrangement: A combination of in-office and remote-working, typically working 40% in the office.

ROLE SUMMARY:

Reporting to Right To Play’s Director, People and Culture (DPC), the Global Safeguarding Specialist (GSS) will build upon the organization's existing safeguarding work to provide a best-in-class Safeguarding approach. You will provide leadership and systematic operational support across Right To Play (RTP), working with senior leadership, programs, communications, fundraising and support teams across RTP country offices and fundraising offices. You will serve as the Safeguarding lead across the organisation, helping us create a culture of safeguarding across all aspects of our work. You will serve as the subject matter expert on humanitarian access and community engagement strategies. You will ensure adequate protocols and mechanisms are in place to address country programs' unique risks and challenges.

You will design and deliver safeguarding awareness and training sessions, both in-person and through our Learning Management System (LMS), to ensure all staff and volunteers understand RTP’s safeguarding policies and procedures and the behaviours expected of them at all times. In partnership with program colleagues, you will support RTP to build safeguarding into program design, implementation and monitoring as well as their operational systems. Strengthening and extending our existing reporting systems will be an important aspect of the role, particularly where we are working with and through communities and partners. You will lead and/or guide investigations linked to safeguarding issues, ensuring excellence and maintaining a survivor-centered focus.

Drawing on relevant expertise and experience, ideally built in a diverse international context, you will foster a culture of shared responsibility for safeguarding. As a leader in sector, you will stay up to date on trends and innovations and continually update teams across RTP and improve our processes and systems to reflect them.

International travel around 20-25% of time is expected.

Evaristo Prize for African Poetry

   
The Prize is open to African writers. An “African writer” is taken to mean someone who was born in Africa, who is a national or resident of an African country, or whose parents are African.

The prize is open to African poets who have not yet had a full-length poetry book published at the time of submission. Self-published poetry books, chapbooks, and pamphlets are exempt from this stipulation.

Only poems written in English can be considered, but we welcome poems in translation for consideration too. In the case that the winning work is translated, a percentage of the prize money would be awarded to the translator.

No past or present paid employees of the University of Nebraska Press, Akashic Books, or Amalion Press, or current faculty, students, or employees at the University of Nebraska are eligible for the prizes.

African poets who have published a chapbook in a New-Generation African Poets Chapbooks Box Set series remain eligible for the Evaristo African Poetry Prize if they have not published a full-length book of poems.

SIWI is seeking committed young professionals to provide support to World Water Week’s Scientific Programme Committee.

Joining the Young Scientific Programme Committee (YSPC) is an opportunity for young professionals to expand their network and gain valuable experience. As part of the YSPC, you will be a vital part of the seminar team and coordinate the SIWI Seminar Series for World Water Week 2024.
How to apply

Young professionals from all sectors all encouraged to apply to one of the nine seminars or to work with the Chair. Please note that YSPC applicants must agree to provide minimum inputs in the order of 20 days from 15 January to 30 September 2024 (excluding a two-day mandatory SPC/co-convenor digital workshop in March/April and World Water Week in August).  All applicants must be able to allocate this time to the committee.
