Country Director - Tanzania - Plan International

As a Plan International Country Director, you will be the leader tasked with unlocking that potential in country.

This is a truly influential position that comes with full accountability for Plan International’s operations and results in country. You will have the unique opportunity to drive programmes and influencing work, set overall direction for the country office, lead and grow the team, and ensure accountability to communities and donors for meeting demanding targets and maintaining alignment with the global strategy.

You will be deeply comfortable with leading transformative change and your talents as a leader and communicator will inspire Plan employees and volunteers while engaging partners, government, local communities and our other stakeholders. You will bring a focused approach to key responsibilities such as risk management, income growth, the disbursement of project funds and the oversight of projects.

Location: Tanzania

Type of Role: 5 year contract. We are willing to consider applicants from across the globe and therefore support with relocation is available if required

Reports to: Director of Sub Region

The African Peacebuilding Network (APN) of the Social Science Research Council (SSRC) invites applications from senior African academics and researchers based at universities, training, and policy institutions in Africa to assemble and lead collaborative research projects intended to inform policy and practice on conflict and peacebuilding on the continent. The APN will support the working group in undertaking original policy-relevant research that focuses on the design, implementation, and impact of peacebuilding mechanisms and processes in conflict-affected African countries and sub-regions. Support is available for research, convening of scholar-practitioner meetings and analysis of issues. The South African Research Ethics Training Initiative (SARETI), based at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, is an African programme in health research ethics that offers a mix of online and face-to-face modular and applied training as part of a structured Social Science Masters specialised in health research ethics.
