World leaders commit to intensify efforts to realize Women's Health, Rights, Equality

UNITED NATIONS, New York, 22 September 2014—More than 140 presidents, heads of government, ministers and high officials from around the world today reaffirmed their countries’ strong political support to the historic International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD).

During the ICPD, held in Cairo in 1994, 179 governments agreed on a 20-year Programme of Action that included a bold new vision of the relationships between population, development and individual well-being. It recognized that population was not about numbers, but about people, and that social, economic and political equality, including sexual and reproductive health and rights, was the basis for individual well-being, slower population growth and sustainable development.

Addressing today’s United Nations General Assembly special session on the follow-up to the ICPD beyond 2014, world leaders agreed that the ICPD was as relevant today as in 1994. They also noted the

The cruelty of comparing yourself to others

We all do it: we look at what others are doing and wish we were doing that too.

Or, alternatively, we scoff at what they’re doing and judge them, and see ourselves as better.

One makes us feel bad, the other makes us feel superior.

Neither makes us happy.

Let’s take a couple of quick examples.

Example 1: Looking at Instagram

I’m not an Instagram user, but family members are, and I see the kinds of things that are posted: people going to parties, to the beach, having a great dinner, traveling, going on a run, doing yoga … generally living an amazing life.

If you were to look at these on a regular basis, it would be easy to compare your boring life (looking at

5 Biggest resume mistakes seen by Google's Head of PR

People Operations at Google, Laszlo Bock says he's personally reviewed more than 20,000 resumes and that, at Google they sometimes get more than 50,000 resumes in a single week.

In the interest of helping more candidates successful with resumere, he has listed five biggest mistakes he sees on resumes.
Mistake 2: Length. A good rule of thumb is one page of resume for every ten years of work experience. Hard to fit it all in, right? But a three or four or ten page resume simply won't get read closely. As Blaise Pascal wrote, "I would have written you a shorter letter, but I did not have the time." A crisp, focused resume demonstrates an ability to synthesize, prioritize, and convey the most important information about you. Think about it this way: the *sole* purpose of a resume is to get you an interview. That's it. It's not to convince a hiring manager to say "yes" to you (that's what the interview is for) or to tell your life's story (that's what a patient spouse is for). Your resume is a tool that gets you to that first interview. Once you're in the room, the resume doesn't matter much. So cut back your resume. It's too long.

Mistake 3: Formatting. Unless you're applying for a job such as a designer or artist, your focus should be on making your resume clean and legible. At least ten point font. At least half-inch margins. White paper, black ink. Consistent spacing between lines, columns aligned, your name and contact information on every page. If you can, look at it in both Google Docs and Word, and then attach it to an email and open it as a preview. Formatting can get garbled when moving across platforms. Saving it as a PDF is a good way to go.

Dual Citizens will not be loyal to Tanzania - Who is?

TANZANIA. The name evokes many different emotions in its citizens. To visitors, it is one of the most beautiful countries on earth. To its citizens there is no place like Tanzania.

Vast undulating plain lands, side by side with majestic highlands, open sea, rivers and lakes. It is also the country whose statistics are not enviable in the numbers of children who die at childbirth for every thousand.

It is similarly a country of 45million where a significant part of the population, lives below poverty line of one US dollar per day. The unemployment rate in Tanzania is staggering with a huge youth population illprepared to face the reality of changing times, environment and challenges.

Listening to Radio Talk Shows, one almost feels like Tanzania is living in a time warp. A nation living

BELIEVERS in pan-Africanism are unlikely to see eye-to-eye with the de facto spokesman for South Africa’s advertising industry, by far the richest in the sub-Saharan part of the continent and arguably the most influential.

Andrew Human readily acknowledges his limited experience of Africa but says he learnt a lot when he went on a four-week working trip early this year, doing roadshows and workshops in Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Kenyan, Nigeria and Ghana.

"The biggest thing that struck me is that we tend to talk about ‘Africa’ but people are not "African" and nobody considers themselves as African," Mr Human contended as he prepared to host the Loeries, the
